A North Carolina resident joins the rising number of lawsuits against DePuy, claiming that the company’s metal hip implant caused serious damage.

Plaintiff Jerry A. was implanted with a DePuy metal hip implant in his right hip in December 2007. The specific metal hip implant used was a DePuy ASR metal hip implant.

However, Jerry alleges in his lawsuit that after receiving the metal hip implant, he began suffering from severe complications. The physical problems include metal poisoning from cobalt and chromium fragments and continuous pain.

Jerry also alleges he was forced to undergo extra visits to the doctor as well as a revision surgery because of these complications. He also suffered from lost wages and other economic damages.

Because of these problems, Jerry was forced to have his metal hip implant device removed. This surgery occurred in January 2016, which in itself has caused further injuries.

Jerry is filing the metal hip implant lawsuit against DePuy bringing forth 23 counts, including negligence, fraud, express and implied warranties, manufacturing defect, failure to warn and misrepresentation, among several others.

Metal Hip Implant Lawsuit

Jerry’s lawsuit and others like it allege that while DePuy marketed its metal hip implant devices as safe and effective, the company was aware that there have been a series of severe and dangerous problems linked with such devices.

Lawsuits claim that not only was DePuy aware of their product’s potential complications, but that the company actively concealed information about these issues from the public and the medical community, preventing patients and doctors alike from understanding the risks linked with this implant.

According to metal hip implant lawsuits, had plaintiffs been warned about these kinds of complications, they could have chosen another option for surgery. This would have allowed them to avoid suffering from these complications.

Metal Hip Implant Complications
