Good news for Class Members who had their claims denied in the Burger King Wheelchair Access Class Action Settlement: the court has granted a motion to extend the Settlement Administrator’s deadline for distributing the funds to allow claimants more time to submit supporting documents. As a result, some Class Members are having their denied claims reversed and approved, resulting in thousands of dollars in compensation!
Top Class Actions reported in February that claim denial letters were sent to many Class Members who did not submit proof that they had a mobility impairment that required the use of a wheelchair or scooter. The Settlement Administrator required the proof due to the large number of fraudulent claims submitted. Class Members who filed unsupported claims were asked to submit additional documents verifying their mobility impairment.
Plaintiffs requested that the court extend the deadline for the Settlement Administrator to distribute 15% of the net settlement fund (approximately $2.1 million) so that certain damages claimants with potentially valid claims would have time to submit additional documents supporting their claims. The court granted the request and moved the deadline from March 5 to April 2.
This is big news for Class Members who had their claim denied. Some claimants are reporting to Top Class Actions that they had their denied claims approved after submitting proof to the Settlement Administrator.
Checks for the Burger King Wheelchair Access Class Action Settlement went out last week, and some Class Members are reporting receiving thousands of dollars. This Top Class Actions reader received over $10,000 after successfully proving she visited a Burger King store four times with a mobility impairment.

$10,000 (effective January 1, 2012), except that a plaintiff may not file a claim over $2,500 more than twice a year. Limit for local public entity or for businesses is $5,000. $6,500 is the limit in suits by an individual against a guarantor that charges for its guarantor or surety services.
when a company does business in the state of california you can sue them in smalls claims court for $10,000.
