A Tennessee couple recently filed a Roundup B-cell lymphoma lawsuit against Monsanto, alleging the use of Roundup over many years caused the plaintiff’s cancer.
The plaintiff, Warren A., alleges in his Roundup B-cell lymphoma lawsuit that he used Roundup for many years as a soybean and rice farmer. Warren claims that over the course of 13 years, he worked as a Tennessee farmer who regularly used Roundup as a weedkiller. However, he was unfortunately diagnosed in 2016 with B-cell lymphoma that he alleges was caused directly by this consistent use of and exposure to Roundup.
After seeing a television advertisement about Roundup cancer in October 2017, Warren realized his B-cell lymphoma may have been caused by his use of Roundup.
According to the Roundup B-cell lymphoma lawsuit, Roundup’s manufacturer Monsanto concealed the risks related to its product, placing consumers at serious risk.
The Roundup B-cell lymphoma lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including design defect, failure to warn, and negligence. Warren’s wife Vicki also filed on one count of loss of consortium.
Warren is far from the only Roundup user to later file a lawsuit over serious side effects, including various cancer. This Roundup B-cell lymphoma lawsuit and others like it claim that Monsanto has misrepresented Roundup as safe, when it in fact can cause extremely dangerous diseases.
The Risk of Roundup Cancer
Monsanto’s popular weedkiller Roundup has been linked with a number of types of alleged Roundup cancer, including B-cell lymphoma. Farm workers and home gardeners are among the most at risk of any Roundup side effects, given that they are most likely to be regularly using the popular Monsanto product.
Studies published in the U.S., Canada, and Sweden have indicated a link between Roundup and cancer. The connection has been known for quite some time—indeed, these studies date to as far back as 2001. The Environmental Protection Agency had begun to suspect a Roundup cancer connection by the mid-1980s. Plus, a recent report published in March 2015 by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, is a probably human carcinogen.
Cancers Linked With Roundup Use
Types of Roundup cancer that have so far been linked with the weedkiller include the following:
- Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
- Leukemia
- Multiple Myeloma
- B-cell Lymphoma
- Bone Cancer
- Renal Cell Carcinoma (kidney cancer)
- Other Cancers
