We were in Las Vegas in July 2007 and August 2008 and rented cars from National Rent a Car both times. I am unable to provide you with exact dates since we only save records for the four years required by the IRS. After these four years have expired, we destroy tax and credit card records which would have been able to verify dates but we no longer have these.

This person is right on the money:

It seems more like a promotional scheme masquerading as a lawsuit. Obviously someone found a way to create a lawsuit, and to make money from it. And the car companies give out a promotional coupon that most people wont even use. The lawyers make $, the plaintiffs, whoever they are get money for being the suits representatives, and no one is hurt in the end. Oh America, you crack me up sometimes with your legal system.

Are the lawyer’s getting paid with coupons as well?

So why does someone get to decide that I was somehow wronged by a car rental in Vegas three years ago and I should get a $10 coupon while they collect $1.4M for representing me for something I do not care about? This class-action nonsense needs to stop.

This is a disappointing settlement– they charge an illegal add-on fee and the settlement offered is an enticement to use their service again at basically no cost to them? Lawyers and representative plantiffs get cash $, but everyone else gets a $10-$20 off coupon?
I just got this in the mail and would have hoped to at least get the amount in add-on fees back, if not more–that’s how the financial pain of this is supposed to work to discourage such future shenanigans.

I was not aware that the Hertz Corporation Company unlawfully included an additional charge labeled “concession recovery fee” on our car rental amount at the Las Vegas, Nevada Airport. So I do not wish to be included in the Class Action Settlement. Thank you!

I am pleased that this action is being taken—not so much to punish a car-rental company but to point out that relationship between the company and the customer must be built on trust…and that maintaining that trust is something the company must always give careful attention to.
