Consumers who purchased Lifetime basketball products from Lifetime Products Inc. and Sports Authority Inc. will be able to claim a free basketball or gift card valued at between $12.50 and $30 from a class action settlement over allegedly misleading marketing claims.
The Lifetime basketball settlement resolves allegations raised in a class action lawsuit that Lifetime and Sports Authority misrepresented that certain Lifetime basketball products were “Made in the USA.” The defendants deny any wrongdoing but have agreed to a class action settlement to resolve the litigation.
If you purchased a Lifetime basketball product with the unqualified designation “MADE IN USA” or “MADE IN THE USA” in California between April 11, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2012, you may be eligible to receive a gift card redeemable at lifetime.com or a free basketball, depending on how much money you spent on eligible Lifeway basketball products. Eligible Lifeway basketball products include basketballs, basketball hoops, basketball pumps, and dozens of products listed here.
Class Members can submit their Claim Form at www.TheLifetimeSettlement.com by clicking on the “Submit Your Claim” button.
See our detailed claim filing instructions for more information.
The deadline to file a claim is April 8, 2014.
The Lifetime Basketball Products Class Action Lawsuit Settlement case is Andrew Hecht-Nielsen, et al. v. Lifetime Products Inc., et al., and Saman Afrouznia, et al. v. Lifetime Products Inc., et al., Case No. 37-2011-00089380-CU-BT-CTL in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of San Diego.
