Top Class Actions has been following the airline passenger class action lawsuit that accused Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airlines of conspiring to fix prices for air travel between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea since 2013.

Korean Air and Asiana Airlines agreed to pay $65 million to resolve the price-fixing class action lawsuit that alleged the companies agreed to establish artificially high prices for air passenger travel.

Class Members that submitted a valid Claim Form are expected to receive cash and coupons from the class action settlement, which will be distributed pro rata, based on the total number of qualifying purchases and valid Claim Forms submitted.

Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airlines deny the allegations raised in the class action lawsuit but agreed to a settlement to resolve the litigation.

The deadline to submit a Claim Form for the Korean Air settlement passed on Dec. 31, 2013.

A message from TCA President, Scott Hardy:
To all of our faithful and awesome viewers:
First, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US! We wouldn’t be here without you! It’s been amazing to watch us grow!
Second, PLEASE only submit claims you’re qualified for. Submitting false claims is not only illegal, it hurts the people who TRULY have a claim. Every false claim lowers the amount legitimate claimants can get, adds additional unneeded work to the settlement administrator, as they have to attempt to verify more claims (which delays payments for everyone), and it also makes settlement administrators much less likely to include internet notifications with groups like Top Class Actions as part of the advertising plan, which means YOU won’t hear about all of the settlements out there. False claims are a persistent problem and will result in less and less settlements getting listed on websites like Top Class Actions. Oh, and bragging about a false claim on social media is DUMB! Don’t you think settlement administrators are watching to see who’s dumb enough to comment or brag about doing something illegal? At a minimum those people will end up getting blacklisted and denied future claims, at a maximum you may start to see people get indicted for fraud. Remember, back in the 90s and early 2000s when we said, “They won’t ever go after anyone for downloading music illegally!” What happened? Many, MANY people got sued for thousands upon thousands of dollars and LOST.

  1. Robby says:

I spoke with someone from Rust. He said he could not give out any amount. I spoke with him last Friday, all he said that checks were being mailed out on the 27th. I don’t trust anyone with an amount.

  2. Michael Blanchard says:

And that was for how many flights?

  3. Michael Blanchard says:

I find it interesting that Rust finally answered my email TODAY of all days (the day the checks are mailed) regarding the amount of the checks being sent out but of course they could not give me specifics on the amounts.

    UPDATED: June 27, 2016

The settlement checks and coupon codes were mailed out to verified claimants on June 27, 2016.

  5. Michael Blanchard says:

I am wondering why the post I left yesterday asking why Rust was being so secretive regarding the amounts of the awards and also the reply was taken down overnight? I find this odd???

  6. Peter says:

There have been a few lawsuits that I’ve been a part of where they would not release the check amount until they were in the mail. The cosmopolitan lawsuit was one and so was zara. Neither were handled by rust. CPT, the claims administrator for cosmopolitan, said that they wanted to prevent being bombarded with calls from claimants

  7. Carlos says:

I posted years ago how dirty Rust is and I pretty much go tackled by Rust employees posing as consumers, please see Bank of America settlement. They followed me over to various other settlement sites trying to get a rise out of me and get me banned from this site. Well they failed and will continue to fail. Rust is dirty collecting $1000s in interest while you guys wait for your money. Please research six continents hotel settlement. They try and pull one over on us by posing as regular claimants and by trying to get a rise out of people so they dont file claims anymore. Jeff we are onto you but its not going to work but nice try. Good people will continue to get what belongs to them no matter how hard you try and bash them or me.

    1. Claire says:

Rust did not handle the six continents claims

  8. Michael Blanchard says:

I am just curious when this will all be over and if the wait is worth it??? I paid for 6 round trip tickets to Korea during this time period so I am hoping this isn’t one of those $1.99 rebates.

  10. Diana says:

Heard this crap before. Just wait until June 27th comes around and the date bet not change!!!
