airlinesThere’s long awaited news for the airline passengers who filed a claim in the Korean Air class action settlement – Class Members should expect to receive a check and coupon code in April!

According to the Korean Air Passenger Antitrust Litigation Settlement Website, Judge Otero approved the motion for distribution of settlement funds yesterday.

If you bought at least one ticket for air travel on either Asiana Airlines or Korean Air between Jan. 1, 2000 and Aug. 1, 2007, and filed a claim for the class action lawsuit settlement, you don’t have to wait much longer for your payout!

Top Class Actions has been following the airline passenger class action lawsuit that accused Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airlines of conspiring to fix prices for air travel between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea since 2013.

Korean Air and Asiana Airlines agreed to pay $65 million to resolve the price-fixing class action lawsuit that alleged the companies agreed to establish artificially high prices for air passenger travel.

Class Members that submitted a valid Claim Form are expected to receive cash and coupons from the class action settlement, which will be distributed pro rata, based on the total number of qualifying purchases and valid Claim Forms submitted.

Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airlines deny the allegations raised in the class action lawsuit but agreed to a settlement to resolve the litigation.

The deadline to submit a Claim Form for the Korean Air settlement passed on Dec. 31, 2013.

Congratulations to our viewers who submitted a valid claim and are expecting a check to arrive soon! A message from TCA President, Scott Hardy:
To all of our faithful and awesome viewers:
First, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US! We wouldn’t be here without you! It’s been amazing to watch us grow!
Second, PLEASE only submit claims you’re qualified for. Submitting false claims is not only illegal, it hurts the people who TRULY have a claim. Every false claim lowers the amount legitimate claimants can get, adds additional unneeded work to the settlement administrator, as they have to attempt to verify more claims (which delays payments for everyone), and it also makes settlement administrators much less likely to include internet notifications with groups like Top Class Actions as part of the advertising plan, which means YOU won’t hear about all of the settlements out there. False claims are a persistent problem and will result in less and less settlements getting listed on websites like Top Class Actions. Oh, and bragging about a false claim on social media is DUMB! Don’t you think settlement administrators are watching to see who’s dumb enough to comment or brag about doing something illegal? At a minimum those people will end up getting blacklisted and denied future claims, at a maximum you may start to see people get indicted for fraud. Remember, back in the 90s and early 2000s when we said, “They won’t ever go after anyone for downloading music illegally!” What happened? Many, MANY people got sued for thousands upon thousands of dollars and LOST.
