Kashi Company was hit with an all natural class action lawsuit this year accusing the company of misusing the all natural food label.
Named plaintiffs Alexander Hun and Dana Paul have claimed that Kashi products may not be as all natural as the label suggests.
The plaintiffs named at least 12 ingredients in the all natural class action lawsuit that Kashi included in their products that were not in fact all natural. They claimed that Kashi food products could have anywhere between one and seven of those ingredients, “some of which are artificial, all of which are synthetic chemicals, and all of which are recognized as synthetic chemicals by federal regulations,” the all natural class action lawsuit says.
Kashi has been using the all natural food label since 2007 and have marketed their products as wholesome and healthy, according to the Kashi class action lawsuit. While the company disclosed the ingredients in question on their food labels, such as ascorbid acid, calcium pantothenate, glycerin, and more, they did not include any information stating that these ingredients were not natural products, the plaintiffs allege.
Previously, Kashi paid a large settlement to California residents who had also filed an all natural class action lawsuit against the company. Now, this complaint is seeking to help New York and New Jersey residents who were allegedly deceived by Kashi’s labeling.
In the California all natural class action lawsuit, Kashi was required to removed the all natural food label from some of their products that had some of the ingredients in question. But after Sept. 2, 2017, they would be free to add the label back to their all natural food products once more.
The all natural class action lawsuit claims that “Kashi intends to continue to use its false, misleading and unlawful ‘All Natural’ and ‘Nothing Artificial’ misrepresentations on the Kashi Products’ labels.”
Kashi products named in the all natural class action lawsuit included TLC Baked Apple Spice Soft-Baked Cereal Bars, GoLean Chocolate Almond Toffee Protein and Fiber Bars, and multiple other products.
Kashi all natural food products cost the plaintiffs more money to purchase, they claim in the Kashi class action lawsuit. The plaintiffs made these purchases under the assumption that they were paying for the quality of all natural food.
Both named plaintiffs claimed that they would not have bought Kashi products had they been aware that they included artificial ingredients. Neither plaintiffs has purchased a Kashi product since.
The all natural class action lawsuit can help plaintiffs recover the money they spent on a more expensive product that they believed to be all natural. Many people buy all natural food products because of this label and would not have bought the food without it.
The Kashi All Natural Class Action Lawsuit is Alexander Hun, et al. v. Kashi Company, Case No. 1:15-cv-01391, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Did you purchase a food product because the label said it was “Natural,” “All Natural,” “100% Natural” or used a similar term?
Some food products labeled “Natural,” “All Natural,” or “100% Natural” are not, in fact, natural because they contain unnatural ingredients, such as artificial additives, synthetic vitamins, and/or chemical preservatives.
