Road tollWhen driving on many toll roads throughout Delaware and surrounding states, it’s very common to use EZPass. EZPass is an automatic way to pass through the toll assessment stations throughout Delaware and have the money owed be deducted from an account.

However, a growing number of people allege that their Delaware toll violation notices are inaccurate or assess unreasonable fees.

Those drivers may even be able to participate in a class action lawsuit investigation. If you were assessed an excessive EZPass toll violation over the course of the past four years, you may be eligible to pursue legal action against the company.

Drivers pay tolls to move through certain highways. The EZPass system is often used to allow people to pass through the toll assessment stations more quickly. A Delaware toll violation may be assessed if a person does not have enough funds on their account to cover the toll that is due.

Automated toll fee collection is a way to easily and quickly pay toll fees without actually having to stop at the booth. A driver will avoid a Delaware toll violation by purchasing an account through a provider such as EZPass. A transponder is then affixed to the driver’s windshield and then this communicates with the system as the driver passes through the toll booth.

Drivers must add money to their toll collection accounts and the toll fee will then be removed from the account each time that the driver passes through a toll area.

A driver can be assessed a Delaware toll violation if they do not have sufficient money in their account. However, drivers now argue that their Delaware toll violation notices indicate much higher penalties than the base toll fee.

A growing number of class action lawsuits have been associated with problems alleged by drivers, including those who have received notice of a Delaware toll violation.

In some of these instances, the cost for the Delaware toll violation may be ten times as much as the actual toll cost for driving on the road that other drivers paid for with cash or if they had sufficient funds on their account.

If you have already been assessed an EZPass toll violation fee, you may be eligible to participate in a class action lawsuit investigation. Consumers are getting increasingly frustrated with receiving these notices and not being informed about the high penalties associated with having insufficient funds on the account.

Although the EZPass transponder and other similar services may be a seamless way to pay your toll, it could lead to more trouble if you are not careful enough to monitor the funds inside your account and if you are assessed a costly Delaware toll violation.

Reviewing past notices received regarding violations and insufficient funds in your account can help you identify whether or not exorbitant fees have been assessed against your account. If excessive fees were charged, customers can look into options to challenge them.

I didn’t pay the toll because the GPS sent me to the left lane so I couldn’t get back over. However I refuse to pay a $25 dollar admin fee, a $10 ambulance fee and $15 to combat violent crimes. I’m from SC I don’t care about DE’s crime problem. I didn’t even stop in DE. Add me to the lawsuit as well!!

I received a Delaware toll violation today. The funny thing is, I’ve never been to Delaware and the truck and license plate pictured isn’t mine. I’ve never owned a truck like the one pictured and never remember having the tag number pictured. The picture is of the front of truck. I live in SC. SC doesn’t require a tag up front plus I’ve never had a tag up front on any vehicle I’ve ever owned.

I have the same situation, received $54 for $4. In my case actually it’s not even my fault. I gave the guy bag of change, that’s all I had but it was $4.he said I doubt it $4 and said there is a long behind, can’t take time to count, will just send the letter and pay it online. Being nice to him and behind me, I said ok. But he never informed that will have to $50 extra!

Yes I received the same 54.00 Violation . I am very cautious when driving threw Delaware because this happen before by accident, so in July they said I did it again. I know I payed the toll. Something fishy here

  7. SARAH says:

I, TOO, AM SURE I STOPPED AT EVERY TOLL BOOTH AND PAY THE TOLL YET I JUST RECEIVED A BILL FOR $54.00 FOR A $4 TOLL. THE STATE OF DELAWARE HAS OBVIOUSLY FOUND A WAY TO INCREASE THEIR INCOME.

  8. Josh says:

I got a 50 dollar fee for a 7 dollar toll, you can add my name to the list as well.

  9. Lakisha English says:

I just received my toll bill in the mail for $54 for a $4 toll. Add my name to the list.

    1. Jang Cho says:

Same here. $25 administrative fee? This must be a joke. And I had my EZpass. I don’t know why I have to pay the state when they have crappy transponders.

  10. KARA MERCERON says:

PLEASE ADD ME TO THE DELAWRE EZ PASS LAWSUIT. I WAS CHARGED FEES IN JULY 2017.

    1. Harlan Holmes says:

In addition to the thick fog of suspicion swirling about the Newark, Delaware toll plaza, there also seems to be a powerful odor of venality emanating from the organization that runs it —“EZ Fine,” aka EZ Pass. And judging by some of the other reviews posted about them online, as well as their recent attempt to quash dissent by deleting my initial review, it’s obviously well past time that someone assumed the onus of shedding a little light into their nefarious goings-on. So I’ve decided to volunteer my services now that I too have received one of their infamous demands for $54 in the mail.
I think I’ll begin by retracing and documenting the route my wife and I traveled that day to see exactly how two people with a combined total of 100+ years driving experience could have, as EZ Fine claims, gone right through a toll booth without paying. Then we’ll have to see where we go from there.

      1. Cindy says:

I got the same bill in June 2018. I have no doubt in my mind that I stopped at every toll booth and paid my toll but I also got a bill for $54.00 and the toll was $4.00

        1. Ahad ZAKIR Khan says:

I received notice for toll violation yesterday for $54 for a $4 toll from Delaware. The location was Newark toll plaza lane 41. I have read here that a lot of people had problems on this toll specifically. I was very careful and I still can’t remember how I would have missed paying the toll. Maybe it was because GPS took me to the left and I couldn’t have gone to the right lane. I would have probably thought that I’ll get the toll on the mail like I do in NJ and PA. This is my first violation of any kind and I am not sure if I should appeal as due take by April 18th.

The fee that they are charging is exorbitant. I would like to be part of any on-going suit against Delaware as I strongly believe that it is unfair.
