Frito-Lay Tostitos recall overview:

  • Who: Frito-Lay is recalling just less than 1,300 bags of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips.
  • Why: The recall is due to the potential presence of nacho cheese tortilla chips, which contain an undeclared milk allergen.
  • Where: The recall is effective in 13 states across the United States.

Frito-Lay has issued a recall for a limited number of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips due to the potential inclusion of nacho cheese tortilla chips, which contain milk not declared on the packaging.

The presence of undeclared milk poses a risk for individuals with milk allergies or sensitivities, making this a significant Tostitos allergy recall.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” the recall states.

The Tostitos recall, announced on March 26, 2025, involves 13 oz. bags of the chips. These products were distributed to various retailers and e-commerce platforms in 13 states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois and Indiana.

Consumers can identify the recalled products by looking for the Universal Product Code of 28400 52848, “Guaranteed Fresh” date of May 20, 2025, and specific manufacturing codes where “XX” is any number from 30 up to 55:

  • 471106504 18 13:XX
  • 471106505 85 13:XX
  • 471106506 85 13:XX

Consumers urged to check packaging for recall details

The recall notice advises people to check the product’s packaging for specific details. Consumers who have an allergy or sensitivity to milk should not consume the product and discard it immediately, the Frito-Lay Tostitos recall notice says.

Frito-Lay has taken steps to inform the public and is actively working to remove the affected products from store shelves and digital platforms. The company has provided a contact page and phone number for consumers seeking more information.

The Frito-Lay recall affects only a small batch of products, and no other Tostitos products, flavors or sizes are involved.

Consumers can contact Frito-Lay for more information by visiting its website, calling 1-800-352-4477 during business hours or emailing [email protected].

Frito-Lay says it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the Tostitos recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In December 2024, Frito-Lay issued a similar recall over concerns Lay’s Classic Potato Chips were also potentially contaminated with milk allergens.
