A Ford class action lawsuit says the auto manufacturer knew its braking systems were defective but still sold the car components regardless.

The driver who filed the Ford class action lawsuit says that not only was it dangerous for him to get behind the wheel with defective brakes in his vehicle but he also had to cover the repair costs when those brakes inevitably caused an issue.

The plaintiff in the proposed Ford class action lawsuit Roy Naasz alleges that he experienced unexpected brake failure in September 2018 when he tried to use them on an off-ramp. He says he then took his 2015 Ford F-150 to an area dealership in California to investigate the problem.

Naasz claims in the Ford class action lawsuit that the dealership determined that there were no leaks affecting the brake calipers or the brake lines and that brake fluid was inside his brake booster.

At that time, according to the Ford brakes class action lawsuit, the dealership replaced the brake booster and master cylinder.

These repairs exceeded the warranty period available on the truck, so the plaintiff was responsible for covering more than $1,000 in costs, according to the Ford class action.

The plaintiff argues that this fix not only cost him personally but that the same defective brake system was added back into his truck, so he will continue to face the risk of brake failure.

The Ford braking system class action lawsuit says that the particular defect in question is a master cylinder that has a defective sealing mechanism that is supposed to stop brake fluid leaks that could damage the brake booster.

The Ford class action lawsuit claims that this sealing mechanism doesn’t work and can begin to fail within 36,000 miles after purchase.

The class action lawsuit against Ford says that the car maker knew about the problems because they previously recalled the 2013 and 2014 model years as a result of the brake failure. The plaintiff, however, argues that those models from 2013 to 2018 are also affected by the braking system defect.

The Ford class action lawsuit was filed because Naasz and proposed Class Members reportedly had to pay out-of-pocket for their repairs when the car’s parts fell outside the recall years or warranty period.

Several complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration detail people who have come dangerously close to severe injuries because of the Ford brake failure.

The Ford braking class action lawsuit says that in addition to being responsible for the faulty product in the first place, Ford concealed the problem after they discovered it in 2011 and continued to sell the vehicles without making customers aware of the dangers.

The plaintiff and proposed Class are represented by Sharon S. Almonrode, Dennis A. Lienhardt, and E. Powell Miller of the Miller Law Firm; Mark P. Chalos, Jonathan D. Selbin, Evan J. Ballan and Annika K. Martin of Lief Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP and Patrick Newsom of Bruno Newsom PLLC.

The Ford Braking System Class Action Lawsuit is Roy Naasz v. Ford Motor Co., Case No. 2:18-cv-13165, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Eastern Michigan.

I have a 2010 ford egde. It has 41 000 miles on it. The brake pedal will get hard to push on occasions & braking will only slow the car.the brake booster is the problem. Ford is aware of the problem they extended the warranty on it to ten yrs but since mine is over the warranty period Ford will not cover it, they said they voluntarily extended the warranty. To me this is a serious safty issue and sould have been recalled.

My 2009 Ford Fusion continually loses the breaks. I brought it in August 2020 and had to pay for the service. I was told that a recall was being issued but the details weren’t out yet, so I had to wait. In December 2020, my breaks did the same thing again. I was told by the dealership that it was recall related and couldn’t be fixed until the details came out on the recall sometime in the first quarter of 2021. They said that my vehicle was “safe enough to drive” and I just needed to “anticipate my stop and start slowing down further back” because we are always able to anticipate other drivers cutting us off, right? FYI, my vehicle was NOT “safe enough to drive” so I was forced to buy a new vehicle because the recall stated a rental should be provided but my dealership said they didn’t have any. Finally in April 2021, the recall was issued and my car was fixed. Or so I thought. Now it’s doing the same thing again in January 2022. I just want my vehicle to break the way it is supposed to. Now I have to wait a week for the dealership to take a look at it because they are “short staffed and over booked.” When does Ford become liable for these issues?

My wife barely avoided a collision when the brake pedal suddenly sank to the floor.

The the driver side was supposedly fixed but three months later my trim came out on the air bag I tried to take it back had to leave my car overnight and stay with a friend only to be told I should of brought it back sooner and they said since the time had passed they refuse to fix it and told me I could pay to fix it ! I’m furious about this the company should be held accountable come on what has happen to society we should not have to pay with our life’s or the life’s of our loved ones ! This has been unbearable !!! Plz can someone tell me or give me info on what to do !!! Thank you ;-( !!!!

My 2011 Ford Edge has had the brake issue twice in 4 years! I just hit 100K miles on it.
It happened once getting off the freeway 4 years ago and then this morning while pulling up at work! I am headed to the dealership on a tow truck!

Own a 2013 f150 and at about 50000 miles the ABS icon, the brake light, and the anti skid icon began to appear on my dashboard. The problem was finally diagnosed as a faulty HCU unit that had to be replaced along with a new brake pressure switch. Needless to say I am not happy with this repair with so few miles on the truck. Prior to the warning lights appearing I did have the update done to the PCU unit done to the recall(had to bring the truck in twice to get this reprogramming done). I would guess that Ford got poorly assembled HCU units(and/or faulty programming of the PCU which contributed to failure) from their supplier when manufacturing this truck as I have read about many others having the same issue and repair being diagnosed at low miles.

Is there a class action lawsuit out there for the 19S54 recall on Ford Fusions?? I received a recall letter on my 2007 Ford Fusion in January 2020. The recall was for a valve that could get stuck open to the hydraulic system to the brakes. I called Ford Motor reporting brake issues and opened up a Case number in October 2020 after the car went through a stop sign and luckily did not hit anyone or anything. I also made an appointment with local Ford dealership to do an mandatory “Diagnostic test”. They said it was the master cylinder and brake pedal booster and replaced it at a cost of $1,220.00 and stated it was not related to recall (lie). I was driving two weeks after the repair and the brakes went to the floor and did not stop in a parking lot. I brought it in again to Ford and they said it was fine and bled the brakes. It was sitting in the garage for five months when I received a letter April 2021 stating the parts were in. Ford called me the night before my appointment to say they don’t have the parts for the December 2019 recall but they do have the airbag for the most recent recall March 2021. I have brought the car in the dealership and five days later, no update. This has cost me my livelihood during this pandemic. Any updates or information would be appreciated.

There is a recall on my 2017 Lincoln MKX. Lincoln recall number 20S42 front brake flexible hose leaks. My hose failed while driving. Thankfully, I was not involved in an accident. The dealership replaced the part with another defective hose because Lincoln hasn’t figured out how to correct the problem. They did try to charge us, but after talking with them for over an hour and a half on the phone, Lincoln agreed to pay for the repairs. How can they expect me to drive my car when I could have a break failure? I will not drive a car that is unsafe. I am not 3 weeks without a car. This is criminal in my books…..

  10. Ken Foster says:

I’m in. 2012 Ford Edge SEL. Brakes lose stopping power unpredictably, brake pedal goes to the floor. Shutting the car off for a bit usually fixes it for a while. There is a lot of information on the internet, and even if Ford wants to claim ignorance of those there are several recalls on other Ford models for the HCU (Recall 19V904000 and FSA 19S54) where the same symptoms exist. But my Ford dealer says they don’t know what the problem is and there is no way to test for it. That is hogwash. I’ve watched several videos of Ford mechanics and even some shade tree mechanics that show you how to test it. Even if they maintain they didn’t know about this when they sold the vehicles, there is NO WAY they don’t know about it now. I hope they can be made to listen before people start dying.
