A Ford class action lawsuit says the auto manufacturer knew its braking systems were defective but still sold the car components regardless.

The driver who filed the Ford class action lawsuit says that not only was it dangerous for him to get behind the wheel with defective brakes in his vehicle but he also had to cover the repair costs when those brakes inevitably caused an issue.

The plaintiff in the proposed Ford class action lawsuit Roy Naasz alleges that he experienced unexpected brake failure in September 2018 when he tried to use them on an off-ramp. He says he then took his 2015 Ford F-150 to an area dealership in California to investigate the problem.

Naasz claims in the Ford class action lawsuit that the dealership determined that there were no leaks affecting the brake calipers or the brake lines and that brake fluid was inside his brake booster.

At that time, according to the Ford brakes class action lawsuit, the dealership replaced the brake booster and master cylinder.

These repairs exceeded the warranty period available on the truck, so the plaintiff was responsible for covering more than $1,000 in costs, according to the Ford class action.

The plaintiff argues that this fix not only cost him personally but that the same defective brake system was added back into his truck, so he will continue to face the risk of brake failure.

The Ford braking system class action lawsuit says that the particular defect in question is a master cylinder that has a defective sealing mechanism that is supposed to stop brake fluid leaks that could damage the brake booster.

The Ford class action lawsuit claims that this sealing mechanism doesn’t work and can begin to fail within 36,000 miles after purchase.

The class action lawsuit against Ford says that the car maker knew about the problems because they previously recalled the 2013 and 2014 model years as a result of the brake failure. The plaintiff, however, argues that those models from 2013 to 2018 are also affected by the braking system defect.

The Ford class action lawsuit was filed because Naasz and proposed Class Members reportedly had to pay out-of-pocket for their repairs when the car’s parts fell outside the recall years or warranty period.

Several complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration detail people who have come dangerously close to severe injuries because of the Ford brake failure.

The Ford braking class action lawsuit says that in addition to being responsible for the faulty product in the first place, Ford concealed the problem after they discovered it in 2011 and continued to sell the vehicles without making customers aware of the dangers.

The plaintiff and proposed Class are represented by Sharon S. Almonrode, Dennis A. Lienhardt, and E. Powell Miller of the Miller Law Firm; Mark P. Chalos, Jonathan D. Selbin, Evan J. Ballan and Annika K. Martin of Lief Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP and Patrick Newsom of Bruno Newsom PLLC.

The Ford Braking System Class Action Lawsuit is Roy Naasz v. Ford Motor Co., Case No. 2:18-cv-13165, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Eastern Michigan.

Add Me – 2013 Ford Edge
Had to pay out of pocket for the brake booster recall less than 2 years ago, almost $1k
when my brakes failed. According to Ford my VIN # wasn’t on their list.
Now having brake issues again, heard grinding noise in the rear of vehicle when applying brakes.
Rear calipers were not working and now after removing the calipers for replacement the brake pedal is to the floor and won’t retain air. Still waiting to hear what’s causing this.
Meanwhile, the mechanics bill just keeps getting higher.

I received a recall on my 2010 Ford Fusion in January 2020. The recall was for a valve that could get stuck open to the hydraulic system to the brakes. I called Ford Motor reporting brake issues and also talk to a local dealership about it. They said I would get a second letter when the part is available and they will replace it at no charge since it is in the recall. I was driving down the highway when a car was turning in front of me. My brakes went all the way to the floor and would not stop. To prevent hitting the turning vehicle I ran off the highway and hit several curbs, ended up in a restaurant parking lot. My car received damaged from the accident. I have talked to Ford Motor and it is been check into. I had to have my car towed in due to not being drivable. I am hoping Ford Motor will do the right thing and repair the damages to my car. Upon their request I had it towed to a local Ford Dealership for them to scan the brakes but it only scanned 0. I was told by several Ford Motor Mechanics because it scan 0 does not mean the hydraulic failed. I am not the type of person who sues people but I may not have a choice if Ford Motor refuses to fix my car.

If their are any Civil Suits against Ford Motor Co. due to the recall for HCU I would like to be added to it. I still have my recall letter from January. My car has been sitting at a Dealership for a month now. Now Ford Motor is wanting to take the RCM module off and have it sent to their lab. I have ask for them to provide me with a rental while my car is damage but no luck with that. The only thing I can see they are trying to get out of paying for the damages my car received when the brakes failed. Really am I suppose to trust them telling me with the RCM report

        Hi,

Im adding myself to this list. My car has been in the dealership for 2 weeks now.
I was scared out of my mind when my car wouldn’t stop! I felt like the Flintstones while trying to push on my break down to the floor to come to a complete stop.

        Ford is driving me nuts!.
Parts are supposed to be ready Q1 of 2020 –
Now we won’t have parts ready until Q1 of 2021 –

The dealership said that the hold up on the parts is a “Bulletin” from corporate.

        My options:
A: Pay out of pocket $1,600 to have “New” – “Old” parts installed. Meaning the ones that are recalled today.
Maybe…. Be reimbursed by Ford, but not the full amount

B: Wait until they have the parts ready. No rental –

This is crazy, no customer service even for an action that they have already been found guilty of.

Please add me too!!! Iam experiencing the same issues. Car is currently inoperable at dealership. Booster replaced still not braking. 2012 edge. 85k miles.

I had brake failure on my 2015 platinum F150 last week. Resulting in not being able to stop at a T intersection in going up in embankment and rolling over. We went through a small tree line and the front airbags didn’t even deploy. Seems like a pretty big issue they need to figure out. I’m looking into a lawsuit on my own also

  6. Jerry says:

My 2015 F150 brakes failed at 51,000 miles on 8/19/19. Luckily for me it happened just before we were about to descend The Road to the Sun in Glacier N.P. and I was able to have it towed to a dealer. $800 and 4 days later, new master cylinder and booster. How many people will die before Ford fixes this?

  7. Erik Bennett says:

I own a 2016 F-150, on 8/19/19 while driving down the interstate my “brake light” came on. I exited the freeway and when I went to stop my pedal went all the way to the floor. Luckily traffic was light and I was able to get the trucker stopped. Had it towed to service center and they informed me of the issue with the master cylinder. I would like to join this lawsuit.

  8. Alisa Nisly says:

I and my children flipped my Ford F-250 break issues and steering wheel lost all control of brakes and steering!!!! No one would take my case!!! Angels were watching over us! Had to break the glass just to climb out and save my children!!! Very frustrating to know this isn’t just myself with the issue. Please add me to this claim!
