Ford has been faced with many class action lawsuits involving a flaw in many Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. Customers and plaintiffs have claimed that Ford vehicles could suddenly accelerate without warning or cause. This sudden acceleration was paired with a lack of adequate, functioning breaks to slow or stop the car’s movement.
Ford vehicles primarily made between 2002 and 2010 have been implicated in these Ford acceleration problems. Models such as the 2008-2010 Ford Focus, 2005-2010 Ford Mustang, and dozens of additional vehicles have put thousands of individuals in danger.
Ford Design Flaw
The Ford acceleration problem allegedly stems from a design defect in the electronic throttle system. The system could cause the car to accelerate without any motion from the driver. There is no way to prevent the vehicle from accelerating. This could cause accidents on its own. It could also potentially scare the driver and cause them to take actions that cause an accident.
Ford class action lawsuits have claimed that Ford was aware of this flaw. Ford vehicles made after 2010 included a brake override system that would protect individuals from the Ford acceleration problem. However, the action was too late for many.
A Ford class action lawsuit stated that a “reliable Brake Over Accelerator system” would have fixed the problem. Had this system been implemented sooner, thousands of individuals would not have been at risk of causing or being involved in an accident caused by sudden acceleration.

The transmission started bucking around 70k miles and constantly after that shifting into 3 gear and on slopes. Jumps and nearly stalls every stop especially when warm. Just the other day the failsafe mode engaged and it’s been in the driveway since for it’s Christmas time and we just can’t afford a major fix right now unfortunately. Any suggestions?
