Plaintiffs John and Karen L. have filed a lawsuit in Arizona federal court against the Monsanto Company over allegations that John became diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma due to his exposure to the company’s product, Roundup.
According to the Roundup cancer lawsuit, John is a citizen and resident of Safford, Ariz. He says he became exposed to Roundup from 1976 through 2015. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in September 2015.
Roundup Cancer Lawsuit Facts
Plaintiffs like John and Karen are alleging that the Roundup weed killer product causes serious injuries, complications, and adverse side effects, including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other types of cancer.
The Roundup cancer lawsuit purports that the Roundup herbicide is dangerous to human health. In addition, plaintiffs claim the product is highly defective and that Monsanto failed to include proper warnings to consumers who were to use the product.
The Roundup cancer lawsuit states that because of John’s exposure to Roundup and its active glyphosate ingredient, he developed and became diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Roundup Product Facts
Monsanto’s Roundup weed killer product is a popular and widely used herbicide. It is used all around the world. However, according to this Roundup cancer lawsuit, and other purported claims filed by many other plaintiffs, the ingredients in Roundup weed killer cause cancer.
All along, according to the Roundup cancer lawsuit, consumers and workers such as gardeners, agricultural workers, and landscapers, had believed that the Roundup Weed and Grass Killer was a safe and effective herbicide.
However, studies looking into the safety and efficacy of Roundup have discovered that there is an increased risk of developing cancer with the use of the herbicide. The likelihood is increased when consumers come in direct contact with the weed killer.
Around 1,100 claims have been filed against the Monsanto Company by gardeners and agricultural laborers across the U.S. These Roundup lawsuits purport that their use of the weed killer caused them to become diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Plaintiffs say Monsanto continues to market and represent its product as safe and effective, despite the availability of scientific evidence to the contrary.
The IARC, a division of the World Health Organization, declared glyphosate as a Class 2A probable carcinogen in March 2015.
According to the Roundup cancer lawsuit, “the IARC Working Group concluded that the cancers most associated with glyphosate exposure are non-Hodgkin lymphoma and other haematopoietic cancers, including lymphocytic lymphoma/chronic lymphocytic leukemia, B-cell lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.”
The Roundup Cancer Lawsuit is Case No. 4:17-cv-00430-JAS, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
