Bayer aspirinConsumers who participated in a class action settlement over the marketing of Bayer combination aspirin products are reporting to Top Class Actions that they received checks in the mail Friday totaling $6 to $10.

The Bayer combination aspirin settlement resolves a consolidated class action lawsuit called In re: Bayer Corp. Combination Aspirin Products Marketing & Sales Practices Litigation that alleged Bayer violated various laws in its sale and marketing of Bayer Women’s Low-Dose Aspirin Plus Calcium and Bayer Aspirin with Heart Advantage. Plaintiffs claimed that these product shouldn’t have been sold because they weren’t FDA-approved, they didn’t provide the advertised health benefits, and because they were inappropriate for long-term use. As a result of Bayer’s alleged conduct, consumers were overcharged for the combination aspirin products, the class action lawsuit asserts.

Bayer denied any wrongdoing but agreed to a $15 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the litigation. A federal judge granted final approval to the deal on April 11, 2013.

Class Members of the Bayer combination aspirin settlement included all U.S. consumers who purchased Bayer Aspirin with Heart Advantage between Jan. 1, 2008 and July 20, 2012 and Bayer Women’s Low-Dose Aspirin Plus Calcium between Jan. 1, 2000 and July 20, 2012.

Class Members had until April 29, 2013 to file a claim to receive between $4 and $10 from the class action settlement.
