UPDATE 2/20/13: An appeals court has vacated the $35 million Toys “R” Us Babies Product Class Action Settlement over concerns it did not fairly compensate consumers. All payments under the settlement will be halted until a new settlement distribution plan is reached, if at all. Keep checking Top Class Actions for updates.

Two proposed class action lawsuit settlements have been reached with Toys “R” Us (which does business as Babies “R” Us) for allegedly conspiring with several manufacturers to illegally raise the prices on certain baby products. If you purchased one or more of the baby products listed below, you may be able to receive a cash payment from the Baby Products Antitrust class action settlement.

Two groups of consumers sued Babies “R” Us, BabyBjörn, Britax, Kids Line, Maclaren, Medela, Peg Perego, and Regal Lager in 2006 and 2009 for conspiring with one other to implement and enforce policies that would prevent competitors of Babies “R” Us from discounting certain baby products. As a result of this alleged baby product conspiracy, Babies “R” Us overcharged consumers for these products, in violation of federal antitrust laws. The cases are known as McDonough v. Toys ‘R’ Us, et al., No. 2:06-cv-0242-AB and Elliott v. Toys ‘R’ Us, et al., No. 2:09-cv-06151- AB.

The Babies “R” Us class action settlement will provide up to $35.24 million to consumers who purchased the following baby products from Babies “R” Us in the U.S.:

Product:                                              Purchased Between:

I will attempt to cash this check tomorrow at a local Chase branch. The back side of the check is actually the outside of the mailer. No standard check markings. I’m sure this is BBRUS’ way to comply without actually giving up $$. I’m sure it will be turned down. If that does happen, I wonder who I can complain to?

  2. Angela says:

    $17.09

  3. Dim says:

Is the payment subject to tax?

  4. Jim says:

I’m still not convinced this isn’t a scam. If you look st the check it says void if no watermark on back. My back is the mail-to info. No watermark

Has anyone actually cashed their check and it cleared?

    My one is for 38.96

    1. Scott smith says:

      Jim,

The watermark says “IPS” on our check. You have to hold it at a steep angle to the light. My wife received $17.98 today.

      Thanks,

      Scott

  5. Lourdes Chavez says:

    I got $20.98

    1. Mary says:

      Mine was for $17.09.

  6. Kate says:

My claim was paid only 5 percent of purchase price with toys r us receipt. Site says they will pay 20 percent of paid amount. After 6.5 years and 35 million dollars total paid by defendants , GCG took over 2 million and we get peanuts like 10 dollars. This whole thing is a scam for attorneys and settlement administrators…. Lawyers, Liers and Looters benefits at the expense of consumers.

  7. Justasking says:
