Air Wick air freshener recall overview:

Reckitt has recalled about 67,000 of its AirWick Fresh Linen and Fresh Water Aerosol air fresheners as they can rupture, causing a laceration and injury risk to users.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website posted the Air Wick air freshener recall Nov. 3. The recall applies to AirWick Fresh New Day aerosol air fresheners in“ Fresh Linen” and “Fresh Waters” scents with batch code B22077-NJ and date code 18/03/22.
According to the Air Wick recall, a single batch of the aerosol air fresheners is missing a corrosion inhibitor, which can lead to corrosion and rupture of the metal can and expulsion of the contents, posing injury and laceration hazards.
In addition, corrosion of the container can result in leakage, posing a risk of skin and eye irritation upon contact, the recall states.
Air Wick air freshener recall comes after five reports of leaks, ruptures
Reckitt received five reports of incidents relating to the issue, including two reports of the can leaking, two reports of the can rupturing and one report of the can leaking and rupturing. No injuries have been reported so far.
The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to in class action lawsuits.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air fresheners, wrap the product in several layers of paper and dispose in accordance with state and local requirements,” the Air Wick air freshener recall states.
Reckitt is offering consumers a voucher for a free replacement of the affected products.
To receive a voucher, consumers should contact Reckitt to submit a photo of the recalled can along with their contact information and written confirmation they will dispose of the can.
The affected products were sold at grocery, mass merchandisers, hardware, home improvement, drug stores and other stores nationwide between March and September 2022 for about $1.25.
In 2018, Reckitt Benckiser faced a class action lawsuit from a consumer alleging that their Air Wick air fresheners do not actually remove odors as is stated in advertisements. The case was dismissed in 2019.
