Data breaches, faulty products, and even price-fixing scandals are just some of the topics addressed in this month’s settlement roundup.

Yahoo Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Were you one of the billions of Yahoo email accountholders affected by data breaches that occurred between 2014 and 2016? If so, you could get up to $25,000 from a class action settlement.

The Yahoo class action settlement ends claims that Yahoo didn’t adequately protect the personal information of its users. Information disclosed in the data breaches included phone numbers, dates of birth, email addresses, security passwords and other information.

According to the Yahoo settlement, Class Members can claim two years of credit monitoring or $100 in cash, $25 per hour in time spent dealing with the data breach, and up to $25,000 in out-of-pocket losses.

File a claim by July 20, 2020 to get money from the Yahoo class action rebates.

Provigil Price-Fixing Class Action Settlement

Top Class Actions viewers who purchased Provigil, Nuvigil or generic modafinil for sleep disorders, could get cash from a $65 million class action settlement.

The Provigil class action rebates resolves allegations that the makers of the narcolepsy medication colluded together to fix the price of the drug.

The amount each Class Member receives will vary based on how much they paid for Provigil, in comparison to all the other claimants.

Proof of purchase is required for this class action settlement and can be submitted in the form of receipts, pharmacy records or even a doctor’s letter describing why they prescribed Provigil to the Class Member.

File a claim by Jan. 15, 2020 to get cash from the Provigil antitrust class action settlement.

Lottery Scam Class Action Settlement

Lottery losers – listen up! A $4.3 million settlement could mean cash in your pockets if you purchased a non-winning ticket for certain games between 2005 and 2013.

The settlement resolves claims that the Multi-State Lottery Association didn’t do enough to prevent a lottery scam that rigged drawings on the 147th, 327th or 363rd day of the year, either on a Wednesday or Saturday, and the drawing was held after 8 p.m. local time.

Some of the covered tickets include: Wild Car II, Hot Lotto, Wisconsin Megabucks, Colorado Lotto, Nebraska Pick 5, Arizona The Pick, 2by2, and others.

To get cash from the lottery class action rebates, file a claim by Jan. 7, 2020.

CashCall, Western Sky TransUnion Class Action Settlement

Top Class Actions viewers who had a credit report that mentioned a loan from CashCall or Western Sky may be eligible for $100 from a class action settlement.

TransUnion agreed to pay $500,000 to settle claims that it violated federal and state laws by including information about certain types of loans on consumer reports when the debts were either forgiven or otherwise considered invalid.

Most Class Members will automatically benefit from this settlement, however, California residents will need to file a valid Claim Form by Nov. 2, 2019 to get money.

Whirlpool Leaky Refrigerator Class Action Settlement

Do you own a Whirlpool, Amana, Jenn-Air or KitchenAid brand refrigerator with a bottom freezer? If so, you could get money from a $21 million class action settlement.

Under the terms of the Whirlpool refrigerator class action settlement, Class Members can collect up to $150 in reimbursement for parts and labor related to fixing defective drain tubes.

If you bought a Whirlpool brand refrigerator, received one as a gift, or obtained one as part of a home purchase, you may be a Class Member able to benefit from the refrigerator class action rebates.

The Claim Form deadline for leaking events that occurred before Sept. 5, 2019 is Jan. 22, 2020. The settlement also provides Claim Form deadlines for future freezing events for refrigerators in Group A as Dec. 31, 2021 and Group B as Dec. 31, 2026.

Nature’s Way Coconut Oil Class Action Settlement

If you bought Nature’s Way Coconut Oil in the past seven years, you could get $6 per product from a $1.8 million class action settlement.

Top Class Actions viewers who purchased Nature’s Way Coconut Oil that was label as “Healthy” or “Ideal for Exercise and Weight Loss Programs,” can get cash for up to three items without proof of purchase or an unlimited number of jars with receipts.

The Nature’s Way Coconut Oil class action rebates resolves claims that the product was marketed as being “healthy” when the oil contains 93 percent saturated fat and 100 percent fat.

File a claim by Oct. 31, 2019 to benefit from this Nature’s Way settlement.

Plantronics BackBeat FIT Wireless Headphones Class Action Settlement

Plantronics BackBeat FIT wireless headphones owners could get up to $100 from a class action settlement ending claims that the product is deceptively marketed as being water and sweat-proof.

A class action lawsuit also accused the makers of the sport headphones as falsely advertised it as having a battery charge that could last eight hours.

Class Members can benefit in several ways from the headphones class action rebates including:

  • Extended warranty
  • $25 cash – for those who received a replacement product
  • $25 cash – for those who haven’t received replacement headphones (limit of two claims per Class Member)
  • $50 cash – with proof of purchase (limit of two claims per Class Member)

Consumers have until Dec. 31, 2019 to file a claim for the Plantronics settlement.

Capacitors Indirect Purchaser Class Action Rebates

If you bought a film capacitor or electrolytic from Panasonic, Sanyo, Hitachi or other manufacturers, you could get an equal share of a $31 million class action settlement.

Most cell phones, computers and home appliances contain capacitors. According to a class action lawsuit, capacitor manufacturers conspired together to keep the price of capacitors high and therefore increased the price of electronic devices.

Class Members who purchased capacitors between 2002 and 2014 can file a claim by March 23, 2020 to benefit from this settlement.

Super Trac 303 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid Class Action Settlement (Missouri Only)

Missouri residents who purchased Super S Super Trac 303 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid sold by Tractor Supply Company since 2013, could get money from a $1.7 million class action settlement.

A class action lawsuit accused the maker of the tractor hydraulic fluid of falsely advertising its product as being safe to use in logging, construction and farming equipment.

Class Members can file a claim for between $4 and $90 per gallon of tractor fluid. In addition, the Super S Super Trac 303 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid class action settlement provides compensation for damaged equipment that occurred due to the faulty product.

File a claim by Feb. 17, 2020 to get money from this Tractor Supply Company class action settlement.

Liquid Aluminum Sulfate Class Action Settlement

Consumers, water companies, and cities who purchased the water treatment chemical liquid aluminum sulfate could benefit from a $25.6 million settlement.

This particular settlement is only open to direct purchasers of the chemical between Jan. 1, 1997 and Feb. 28, 2011.

The liquid aluminum sulfate class action settlement resolves allegations that USALCO, Southern Ionics, and American Securities worked together to fix the price of the chemical.

Class Members must file a claim by Nov. 7, 2019 to get an equal portion of the settlement fund.

Premera Blue Cross Cyberattack Class Action Settlement

If you were one of the 11 million consumers who had their personal information hacked off of Premera Blue Cross’ computer network in 2014, you could get up to $10,400 from a class action settlement.

The Premera data breach reportedly took names, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical claims information, financial information, dates of birth, email addresses, and protected health information of millions of consumers.

A settlement fund of $74 million will be used to reimburse Class Members for out-of-pocket losses up to $10,000. In addition, Claimants can request $20 per hour for time spent taking care of the security breach up to $400.

File a claim by March 30, 2020 to get money from this Premera data breach class action settlement.

Cancer Medication Price-Fixing Class Action Settlement

Cancer patients who bought Thalomid and/or Revlimid may benefit from a $55 million class action settlement resolving claims that generic versions of the medication were intentionally kept off the market.

A class action lawsuit accused drug manufacturer Celgene Corporation of trying to profit off of cancer patients who were forced to pay more for these medications when a generic version could have been made available.

If you purchased either Thalomid or Revlimid before Aug. 1, 2019, you could get money from this settlement.

Receipts aren’t required at this time, but Class Members must file a Claim Form by Dec. 30, 2019 to benefit from the price-fixing class action settlement.

HealthPort Medical Records Class Action Settlement (Wisconsin Only)

Wisconsin residents who paid fees for their medical records from Ciox, IOD, HealthPort, Aurora or Columbia St. Mary’s between July 1, 2011 and Aug. 1, 2019, could benefit from a $35.4 million settlement.

According to a class action lawsuit, these companies illegally charged extra fees for record requests when under state law patients are allowed to get a copy of their records without unreasonable fees.

Class Members are expected to receive twice as much as the fees they paid for the medical records if they file a claim by Nov. 5, 2019.
