The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) refunded consumers millions of dollars in July.

Bitcoin Funding Team Refunds

The FTC is sending out a second round of checks and payments via PayPal to those who lost money in deceptive cryptocurrency money-making schemes

The defendants allegedly promised participants could earn money by paying cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Litecoin to enroll in schemes marketed as “Bitcoin Funding Team” and “My7Network,” the FTC claimed.

However, according to the FTC, these were referral schemes that depended on new people to be recruited in order to make money.

The first round of refunds in this case were sent in November 2020, but money remained in the fund, so the FTC is sending out 3,316 PayPal payments and 177 checks worth nearly $240,000.

Those who receive a check have 90 days to cash it. Those who receive a PayPal payment have 30 days to accept it.

ABCmouse Refunds

ABCmouse users who did not previously claim their payment in a settlement between Age of Learning Inc. and the FTC should be getting a check in the mail.

The FTC issued PayPal payments totaling more than $9.7 million to more than 200,000 people; 53,725 people did not claim those payments.

The FTC says Age of Learning did not make it clear to users who signed up for ABCmouse that the memberships would renew automatically.

Allegedly, this led to consumers being charged without their consent, according to the FTC. The company also allegedly made it difficult for users to cancel their memberships, leading to further unwanted charges.

Consumers have 60 days to cash the checks.

T-Mobile Refunds

A second round of refund checks are making their way to T-Mobile customers who had third-party charges on their phone bills.

The FTC sent out the first round of checks in February 2017, but because the agency recovered additional funds from third-party scammers, it is sending 164,440 additional checks worth a total of more than $9.6 million.

The refunds are available thanks to a 2014 settlement T-Mobile.

Recipients have 90 days to cash the checks.

ReJuvenation Refunds

The FTC is refunding consumers who purchased “anti-aging” pill ReJuvenation. An application is required in order to receive the refund.

ReJuvenation was allegedly marketed as being able to reverse the aging process and repair age-related damage. However, according to the FTC, these claims were false or misleading.

The product was advertised via mailers, postcards, and emails, and sold on ReJuvenationAntiAging.com, JournalOfAntiAgingBreakthroughs.com, and QuantumWellnessBotanicalInstitute.com.

More than 1,100 have already received their refund.

Claims must be filed by Aug. 31, 2021.

Educare Centre Services Refunds

Nearly 8,000 refund checks worth a total of about $2.3 million have gone out to consumers who lost money through credit card debt relief schemes.

The FTC’s lawsuit alleged Educare falsely promised to lower consumers’ credit card interest rates and illegally charged upfront fees for its services, promising a 100 percent money-back satisfaction guarantee.

However, the company routinely denied such refund requests, according to the FTC.

The FTC and the Ohio attorney general alleged Madera Merchant Services — the company’s payment processor — supported a number of dishonest companies. They also alleged VoIP phone provider Globex knowingly provided the Educare scheme with the ability to make illegal robocalls to U.S. consumers in order to market its fake services.

Checks must be cashed within 90 days.
