A MoneyGram remission claim form is now available in a $125 million settlement benefiting consumers who sent scammers money via MoneyGram money transfer.

Anyone who used MoneyGram to send money to a scammer between Jan. 1, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2017, should have received a pre-filled claim form enabling them to file a petition for remission in the settlement.

Only transfers sent from the United States through MoneyGram are eligible, though Class Members do not have to be a U.S. citizen or in the country to file a claim for a MoneyGram remission.

Class Members must have used their own name on the money transfers.

MoneyGram and the FTC reached an agreement in 2009 over changes intended to make it more difficult for scammers to use the money transfer service to defraud consumers.

MoneyGram has served nearly 150 million people at its 380,000 locations worldwide in the last five years, according to the company’s website.

The exact amount each Class Member will receive in the MoneyGram remission settlement likely will be less than the amount they lost and will not include any refund previously received from MoneyGram.

Instead, the payment will be based solely on the amount of the transfer. Other expenses, such as transfer fees, are not able to be recovered.

Class Members who do not agree with the loss amount printed on their pre-filled petition for the MoneyGram remission should fill out the requested information on the petition form and supply documentation such as MoneyGram receipts, send forms, or history reports with a listed eight-digit money transfer control number to support their claim.

Claimants are asked not to send original receipts.

Claims must be submitted by Aug. 31, 2021.

  1. Stacy Masiero says:

I had forgotten all about this. Got a check today for only $100 less than I was scammed.

  2. S S says:

I just received my check in the mail today. I’d like to thank the people behind the Remission process for looking after us victims. For those who haven’t gotten their check yet, hold your heads up high. Your check should be arriving soon.

    1. Michelle Williams says:

I still have not received my check, is there a way to track it? The status of my claim number just says it’s being recommended for inclusion. And of course they haven’t updated the website since February 10th

      1. SS says:

I don’t think there is any way to track it. Did you fill out a pre-filled claim form that they mailed out to you? It is a letter saying exactly the amount you were scammed. It was supposed to be mailed back to them before June 1, 2021. Also…..If you moved to a new address like i did, you have to immediately update that by calling the Remission Administrator, Gilardi & Co. LLC, at 1-844-269-2630. They are taking their time making sure that they are mailing the checks to the right people and mailing the exact amounts. Before they sent me my check, they mailed me a letter three months earlier saying i had to confirm that they had the right amount printed on their records. They were off by $1,200. I had to mail them proof of the receipt of $1,200 that they couldn’t find in their records. In the end, they ended up mailing me a check for the full amount i was scammed for (minus the transaction fees).

  3. Roger Trishell says:

It has been about 2 years since I submitted the prefilled claim forms and other info.I am depending you attorneys to come thru for me.

  4. Tavia Meria Caldwell says:

I filed online and mailed the prefilled form. I’ve since moved from my original address on the form. I filled in on 3/1/2021. I’ve called and emailed nothing but the same old reply, “all remission checks will be mailed in 2022!” Well, I hate to break it to you Moneygram but 2022 will be out of here in two more weeks!!! I so desperately need my funds at this time of year, please send them to All of us.

  5. Lauren says:

They are sending out deficiencies 2k claimants. It said if you didn’t get one you can check on your case online at the website

  6. Sonja says:

Has anyone received there money yet? I sent the petition back over a year ago no word yet

    1. Demetrius Byrd says:

Haven’t received my money back either

      1. Sabrina Crain says:

Same exact problem. Sent prefilled form on time and accurate. Not one word. Emailed and got no where as well.

      2. Willie Bastian says:

I think this is BS. I contact them via email and send copies of what I send and still havent received no answer ur check. Why send me hope if im not going to see that money back. Especially now that money will be great. Just saying pay us like u say u will.

    2. MIGUEL gomez says:

I file back in April of 2021 and heard nothing yet either.

      1. Ramona Hopkins says:

I file on April of 2021 also. I’ve not heard anything yet. the dead line was June 1,2021 for filing. I still have my paper work.

    3. Sabrina Crain says:

Today I called the dept of Justice and informed them as well. Everyone should do the same the number for the fraud dept for this moneygram is 202 514 1263

    4. Evelyn says:

I filed on time back in April 2021 and have not received a dime! I sent an email inquiring about it and their response was it takes a year or more to determine who is eligible and how much each claim is worth. Anyone know how to get updated information?

    5. Cheryl says:

This was a complete joke! Actually sounds like we were scammed again! Post i just saw says its be closed and paid out!

    6. SS says:

I received my check today on Feb 22. I think they are starting to roll out checks now. They sent me a letter three months ago for me to verify if they had the correct amount. I sent them some proof that they owed me a little more and they agreed to that amount.

  7. Rickymartin says:

Been a year cant call or go on line was wondering when I get my money back

  8. Cheryl Billert says:

I sent back on 3/1/21 and have heard absolutely nothing. It will be a year in a couple weeks! Cant even call or look up online for status! Letter says they were to pay by may 8, 2021!

  9. Shobhan Ganji says:

How long does this stupid process take to get my money back ?. I filed a claim on the moneygramremission website. I lost total $25,000 . Gilradi & Co is wasting people’s time by not refunding the money faster. Complete traverse of Justice.

  10. Linnea sanders says:

I filled the paperwork out and sent it the next and put my phone number and email on the form and haven’t heard anything it would be nice if someone would contact me to keep me informed
