PS5 DualSense drift under investigation for potential class action

A U.S. law firm is looking into consumer complaints over the PS5 DualSense drift and may end up filing a class action lawsuit against Nintendo.

PlayStation 5 users allegedly started experiencing problems with the DualSense controller as soon as ten days after they bought it. The problem is similar to the reported Joy-Con drift alleged in a class action lawsuit filed in Canada.

“Specifically, it is reported that the joystick on certain PS5 DualSense controllers will automatically register movement when the joystick is not being controlled and interfere with gameplay,” the law firm’s site states. The lawyers are reportedly looking into consumer claims that the controller fails prematurely as well.

Further, consumers report that the controller fix is complicated. Gamers say they’ve tried everything to fix the problem, from power-cycling the console, turning Bluetooth on and off, resetting the controller, and charging it overnight, but were out of luck, according to Kotaku.

Customer support for the new PlayStation is reportedly swamped with queries about the gaming system itself. Consumers who do get through are reportedly told that their PS5 DualSense controllers are covered by warranty, but they are responsible for the shipping fees to the Sony repair center.

The reported PS5 Dual Sense drift joins other drift issues that have plagued the industry in recent years. Xbox users have also complained of a controller drift. According to a lawsuit filed against Microsoft, “the wiper component of the potentiometer scrapes resistive material off a curved track, resulting in unwanted electrical contact without input from the user.”

Please add me to the list i have 2 ps5 controllers the one that came with the ps5 the first week my right joy stick literally spins my game character in circle to a point it makes the game unplayable. The 2nd controller i bought thinking it was my fault that it broke a fresh controller took less days to get the joy stick drift and i know 100% it wasn’t my fault because for the first 4 days i haven’t even touched a game with that controller only used it to watch netflix and other streaming platforms, due to me having to go to work. The day i did play a game which was COD when the pre orders came out so we can play the campaign. It was so bad im still yet to finish the start mode. Aiming is a big part in that game and the joystick makes it impossible to play the game how it was intended to play
