Tyson initiates recall for dinosaur chicken nuggets due to possible metal contamination

Tyson chicken nuggets recall overview: 

• Who: Tyson Foods recalled around 29,819 pounds of its fully cooked, breaded, dinosaur-shaped chicken patty product. 
• Why: The company initiated the recall over concerns the dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets are contaminated with metal pieces. 
• Where: Tyson shipped the recalled Tyson chicken patties to distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. 

Tyson Foods announced a recall of around 29,819 pounds of its fully cooked, breaded, dinosaur-shaped chicken patty products over concerns they are contaminated with metal pieces. 

The recall involves Tyson Fully Cooked Fun Nuggets Breaded Shaped Chicken Patties with a best-by date of Sept. 4, according to a recall alert the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published Nov. 4. 

Tyson shipped the recalled chicken nuggets to distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin, according to the FSIS. 

1 minor oral injury connected to Tyson chicken patty product recall 

The FSIS says there has been one report of a minor oral injury in connection to the recall and urges consumers who purchased the recalled Tyson chicken patty products to either throw them away or return them to their place of purchase. 

“FSIS has received no additional reports of injury or illness from consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider,” the agency says in the recall alert.

Conagra Brands announced a similar recall in September for 245,366 pounds of its Banquet Chicken Strips meal frozen entree over concerns the product had been contaminated with plastic.
