Various Honda vehicles recalled due to mirror issue

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) initiated a recall for 330,318 Honda vehicle side-view mirrors because there is an issue with the adhesive on the mirrors’ heating pad.

The Honda mirror recall includes gas-powered vehicles produced from Jan. 3, 2020, through July 23, 2021: the 2020-2021 Honda Pilot, the 2020-2022 Honda Passport, the 2020-2021 Honda Ridgeline and the 2020-2022 Honda Odyssey. The adhesive on these vehicles can cause the mirror to fall and the driver to lose ability to see other traffic.

No injuries have been reported relating to the adhesive issue. Honda will mail recall notices to affected customers May 8. Owners who repaired the defect at their own expense can file for reimbursement.

Elkhorn Valley Packing beef chuck recalled due to possible E.coli

Elkhorn Valley Packing recently recalled 3,436 of its boneless beef chuck. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service posted the recall after discovering the beef chuck possibly contained E. coli during testing.

Consuming food with E. coli can lead to diarrhea (often bloody) and vomiting, along with more severe illnesses. The normal treatment for E. coli illness is vigorous rehydration and supportive care.

Elkhorn Valley Packing has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The beef chuck recall impacts various weights of corrugated boxes marked “Elkhorn Valley Pride Angus Beef 61226 BEEF CHUCK 2PC BNLS; Packed on 2/16/23.” The packages are marked “EST. M-19549” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Salento Organics dark chocolate fruit, peanut bites recalled due to undeclared milk

On March 29, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced a recall for six different chocolate bite products from Salento Organics. It applies to various lots of 4-oz. packages of Dark Chocolate Pitaya Bites, Dark Chocolate Goldenberry Bites, Dark Chocolate Mango Bites, Dark Chocolate Banana Bites, Dark Chocolate Pineapple Bites and Dark Chocolate Peanut Bites.

The chocolate bites products may contain undeclared milk. Salento initiated the recall after discovering the milk-containing product was in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk. People who have allergies to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Jarman’s recalls hand sanitizer due to methanol  contamination

A recent nationwide recall includes Jarman’s Alcohol Antiseptic 80% Topical Solution Hand Sanitizer Non-sterile Solution and Isopropyl Alcohol Antiseptic 75% Topical Solution Hand Sanitizer Non-sterile Solution, both of which were found to contain methanol.

Methanol exposure can lead to vomiting, nausea, headache, blurred vision, coma, seizures, permanent blindness, permanent damage to the central nervous system or death, according to the hand sanitizer recall. The largest risk is to young children who accidentally ingest the product or adults who drink the product as an alcohol substitute.

The products have a National Drug Code of 77518-200-01 for the 80% solution and 74663-002-01 for the 75% solution. They come in one-gallon containers and four-packs of one-gallon containers. Consumers who want to return the hand sanitizer can contact Jarman’s at (800) 288-0741 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or email recall@mwcleaningsolutions.com.
