Jarman’s Midwest Cleaning Services, Inc. recalled some one-gallon bottles of its hand sanitizer due to the presence of methanol.
The nationwide recall includes Jarman’s Alcohol Antiseptic 80% Topical Solution Hand Sanitizer Non-sterile Solution and Isopropyl Alcohol Antiseptic 75% Topical Solution Hand Sanitizer Non-sterile Solution.
Methanol exposure can lead to vomiting, nausea, headache, blurred vision, coma, seizures, permanent blindness, permanent damage to the central nervous system or death, according to the hand sanitizer recall. The largest risk is to young children who accidentally ingest the product or adults who drink the product as an alcohol substitute.
Jarman’s produced the products between March 24 and Dec. 10, 2020. The products have a National Drug Code of 77518-200-01 for the 80% solution and 74663-002-01 for the 75% solution. They come in one-gallon containers and four-packs of one-gallon containers, according to the hand sanitizer recall.
