The Children’s Place has recalled two styles of baby and toddler jeans as they pose a choking hazard.

The recall was published to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website on Aug. 10.

It applies to about 97,400 pairs of Baby and Toddler Boy Basic Stretch Straight Leg Jeans sold in sizes 6-9M to 5T in the United States and about 1,800 of one style sold in Canada.

According to the recall, the metal snaps on the jeans can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

The firm has received one report of snaps detaching from the jeans so far, it said. No injuries have been reported. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Immediately stop using the jeans, recall states

The recalled jeans were sold exclusively at The Children’s Place stores nationwide from Sept. 2022 through March 2023 (for style number 3022341, vendor number 7000541) and from Jan. 2023 through June 2023 (for style number 3022342, vendor number 7000541) for about $25.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled jeans away from children and return the jeans to any The Children’s Place store for a full refund, the recall states. The Children’s Place is notifying all known purchasers.

Earlier this month, The Children’s Place was hit with a class action lawsuit alleging it manufactures and sells school uniforms containing harmful chemicals, including multiple polyfluoroalkyl substances.

Why are children putting jeans in their mouth? Is it something on the jeans they are picking off? It says to take the jeans away from children? If they aren’t wearing them shouldn’t they be stored away?
