  • Why: The cups contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban.
  • Where: The Cupkin children’s cups recall is active in the United States.
  • What are my options: Macy’s carries many options when it comes to children’s cups.

Soojimus has initiated a recall of more than 340,000 Cupkin stainless steel children’s cups, as they contain overly high levels of lead.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall July 20. It applies to about 346,000 Cupkin double-walled stainless steel children’s cups.

According to the recall, the stainless steel cups contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

No injuries have been reported in relation to the recalled product so far, the children’s cups recall says. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Immediately stop using children’s cups, Cupkin recall states

Soojimus sold the recalled products in pairs online at amazon.com and cupkin.com from January 2018 through March 2023 for about $20; the cups have “Cupkin” printed on the front bottom , according to the recall notice.

Consumers should immediately take the cups away from children and stop using them, the recall states. They can contact Soojimus for a full refund. Soojimus and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly.

Stainless steel children’s cups have been the subject of past recalls.

In 2022, Green Sprouts recalled some of its stainless steel straw bottles, sippy cups and sip-and-straw cups due to a lead poisoning risk to children.

I purchased 3 for Xmas presents. Please add me. That’s very disturbing to know this. There are enough harmful things that we consume on a daily basis. Preservatives and additives. We definitely don’t need it in our dinnerware and such. Please add me. Thank you

I’ve actually purchased two for myself, not children. I’m rather nervous now seeing this as I’m already immunocompromised. Please update. Thank you.
