The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website published the recall June 1. It applies to about 15,300 Jetson Nova and Star 3-Wheel Kick Scooters.
According to the scooter recall notice, the rear wheel of the scooters can loosen or fall off, posing a fall hazard to children.
Jetson Electric Bikes received 12 reports of the wheels loosening or falling off the scooters, including one report of an injury involving scratches and bruises to a child’s face.
The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Consumers can contact Jetson Electric Bikes for free repair kit, scooter recall states
Consumers should immediately stop using the Nova and Star 3-Wheel Kick Scooters and contact Jetson Electric Bikes for a free repair kit, the recall notice says.
The kit includes two screws, two bolts and an Allen key, along with repair instructions and a QR code link to an installation video. Consumers will not need additional tools to install the repair kit, the company says.
Jetson sold the scooters in five colors, including green, teal, blue, purple and red. Only scooters with the model and serial numbers listed here are included in the recall.
The recalled products were sold at Target stores nationwide and online at target.com and www.ridejetson.com from Sept. 2022 through Feb. 2023 for about $40.
Meanwhile, in April, Jetson issued a recall for more than 50,000 self-balancing hoverboard products, as they can cause a fire risk, with two deaths reported.
