Outdoor mildew, mold, stain remover recall overview: 

  • Who: Wet & Forget recalled around 2.7 million bottles of its “Xtreme Reach” Outdoor Rapid Application Moss, Mold, Mildew & Algae Stain Remover with Hose End Nozzle. 
  • Why: The company initiated  the recall over corners the hose clip on the bottles could dislodge, causing cleaning solution to spray on users and leading to a risk of skin and eye irritation. 
  • Where: The recall affects consumers nationwide. 

Wet & Forget USA, a household and industrial cleaner company, initiated a recall for around 2.7 million bottles of its “Xtreme Reach” Outdoor Rapid Application Moss, Mold, Mildew & Algae Stain Remover with Hose End Nozzle over concerns the hose clip can dislodge. 

Wet & Forget says a dislodged hose clip could cause the cleaning solution to spray on users, creating a risk of both skin and eye irritation, among other things, according to a recall the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission published Dec. 7. 

The recall involves Wet & Forget “Xtreme Reach” Outdoor Mold & Mildew Stain Remover sold in blue plastic bottles with a UPC code of either 879288000077 or 879288000084.

Consumers advised to immediately stop using recalled stain remover

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Wet & Forget outdoor mold, mildew and stain remover and contact the company to receive a free replacement nozzle. 

Wet & Forget says it received 3,188 reports of the nozzle insert on the recalled outdoor mold, mildew and stain remover dislodging, leading to 157 reports of exposure to the cleaning solution and 28 reports of skin or eye irritation. 

The company sold the recalled Wet & Forget stain remover nationwide at home goods stores, as well as online, from Feb. 2018-Nov. 2023 for $30-$35.
