Nissan Sentra Headlight Recall Overview:

  • Who: Nissan North America issued a recall for more than 5,500 model year 2020 Nissan Sentra vehicles.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the 2020 Nissan Sentra vehicles contain misaligned right-hand headlights.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Nissan North America has issued a recall for more than 5,500 model year 2020 Nissan Sentra vehicles over concerns their right-hand headlights may be misaligned.

The recalled Nissan Sentra vehicles are equipped with LED headlamps that are specific to Sentra vehicles produced at the auto manufacturers Aguascalientes plant, according to a recall notice published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on April 13.

Nissan says the issue was caused by the LED headlamp supplier not applying “the correct aiming logic when setting the headlamp aim parameters.”

Due to the misalignment, the aiming performance of the affected headlamps don’t meet vehicle safety requirements, according to the Nissan recall.

Nissan Recall Warns Incorrectly Aimed Headlamps Can Lead To Crash

Nissan says a headlamp not being aimed correctly can lead to “insufficient illumination” of the road, which can cause an increased risk of crashing when driving a vehicle at night.

Dealers will replace the right-hand LED headlamp to remedy the issue, according to the Nissan recall.

Nissan says dealers were notified of the recall on April 14 and that it will begin notifying owners of potentially affected Sentra vehicle owners on June 3.

Last year, Nissan agreed to a settlement to resolve claims it sold certain model year 2013-2018 Nissan Altima vehicles containing defective halogen headlights
