Meijer, True Goodness recall overview:

  • Who: Meijer has recalled its True Goodness by Meijer Oat-Based Plain Yogurt Alternative.
  • Why: The product contains undeclared almonds.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Meijer has recalled one of its oat-based plain yogurt alternatives as it contains undeclared almonds.

In a recall posted to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration website Dec. 22, Meijer announced it was recalling True Goodness by Meijer Oat-Based Plain Yogurt Alternative 24 Oz (manufactured by Culture Fresh Foods).

The recalled product has UPC 7-13733-03918-5 and lot code 2002.

According to the recall, the company discovered that tubs labeled as Oat-Based actually contain almond-based product, which is not listed on the product label.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product, the recall states.

Meijer customers can get a full refund, company said

The company did not state whether there had been any customers with allergic reactions so far.

It is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Consumers who have purchased the product should discontinue use of it immediately and return the product to the nearest Meijer store for a full refund, the recall states.

Meanwhile, Meijer is facing a class action lawsuit alleging it manufactures and sells lidocaine patches with labels that misrepresent their efficacy.

In that case, the plaintiff says he purchased Meijer lidocaine patches for back pain relief after reading the label and marketing materials touting the product as delivering temporary relief for 12 hours.

However, the Meijer class action lawsuit alleges that the lidocaine patches did not adhere to the plaintiff’s body for anywhere close to 12 hours.
