  • Who: JBM International recalled about 5,300 adult bike helmets.
  • Why: The helmets can fail to protect users during a crash.
  • Where: The bike helmet recall is active in the United States.

JBM International issued a recall on about 5,300 adult bike helmets as they can fail to protect users during a crash.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall March 30. It applies to JBM International Adult Bike Helmets.

According to the recall, the helmets do not comply with the positional stability, labeling and certification requirements of the CPSC federal safety standard for bicycle helmets.

“The helmets can fail to protect in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury,” the bike helmet recall states.

There have been no injuries related to the helmets reported so far, the company says. JBM is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Products should be destroyed, bike helmet recall says

JBM sold the recalled helmets online at Amazon.com from March 2022 through January 2023 for about $24 in multiple color combinations with black and silver straps and a red buckle. “JBM” and an accompanying logo are printed on the sides of the helmet. Batch code JPG-89 is printed on a label on the inside of the helmet.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact JBM International for a full refund,” the company says.

Consumers should destroy the recalled helmet by cutting off the straps and emailing a photo of the helmet with the straps cut off to jbmgearcs@gmail.com. Then dispose of the bike helmet, the recall states.

In related news, earlier this year, Sakar International recalled three models of its bike helmets as they don’t comply with federal safety standards, posing a head injury risk.
