Starbucks frappuccino recall overview:

  • Who: PepsiCo Inc. recalled more than 300,000 Starbucks frappuccino Vanilla Chilled Coffee drinks.
  • Why: The company found glass in some of the bottles.
  • Where: The Starbucks frappuccino recall is active in the United States.

PepsiCo Inc. issued a recall of more than 300,000 Starbucks Vanilla Chilled Coffee frappuccino drinks after glass was found in some of the bottles.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website posted the recall Jan. 28.

It applies to 25,200 cases of 13.7-ounce (405 mL) Starbucks frappuccino Vanilla Chilled Coffee Drink, with UPC 0 12000-81331 3. There are 12 bottles in each case, meaning 302,400 bottles have been recalled.

Pepsi initiated the voluntary Starbucks recall as the beverages may contain “foreign object (glass),” it says.

The FDA classified it as a Class II recall, which means the “product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” according the agency’s website.

Recalled Starbucks drinks distributed nationwide, frappuccino recall says

Pepsi distributed the recalled product nationwide. The bottles have expiration dates of March 8, May 29, June 4 and June 10.

The notice does not mention if Pepsi received reports of any injuries or how it discovered the glass. It also did not mention whether consumers could get a refund on recalled product.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In 2022, Starbucks recalled 221 cases of espresso shots as the products could have been contaminated with metal fragments.
