- Who: BlendJet recalled 4.8 million of its BlendJet 2 portable blenders along with an additional 117,000 in Canada.
- Why: The blenders’ blades can break inside the machine and it can overheat or lead to a fire, the blender recall says.
- Where: The BlendJet recall is effective in both the United States and Canada.
BlendJet announced a recall for 4.8 million of its BlendJet 2 portable blenders along with an additional 117,000 in Canada because the blenders’ blades can break and the unit can overheat, leading to a fire hazard.
The BlendJet recall is for blenders with the first four digits of the serial number from 5201-5542. The serial numbers are printed on the bottom of the base along with “blendjet2” and “The Original Portable Blender,” the recall says.
BlendJet sold the blenders at Costco, Walmart, Target and other stores across the United States and at blendjet.com.
Consumers should stop using the recalled BlendJet blenders and contact the company for a free base unit replacement.
“Consumers will need to remove and cut the rubber seal from the base of their recalled blender into three or more pieces and upload or email a photo showing the serial number on the bottom of the unit and its rubber seal in pieces to BlendJet at blendjet.com/safetyandrecall or [email protected],” the BlendJet recall says.
BlendJet receives 329 reports of broken blades
BlendJet says it received 329 reports of the blades breaking while in use with 17 reports of overheating or fires that led to $150,000 in property damage claims along with 49 reports of minor burns and one report of laceration injury related to the recall.
The company is facing legal action over the recall. A class action lawsuit alleges the BlendJet2 blenders have a defect that causes the device to break or otherwise stop working within a short period of time.
Consumers can reach BlendJet from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET Monday-Friday at (844) 334-0562 or online.

How do I find out how to join the law suit on blend jet and or if it’s over?
I purchased a BlendJet blender from QVC on July 6, 2022. I wasn’t having any problems with it, except it possibly was not strong enough to actually crush ice, but it worked for me. Then in December 2023 I became aware of a recall of MY BlendJet unit. I cut the seal as per their request so the unit could not be used.
In January 2024, I received an email from BlendJet explaining my options once I fill out the replacement form. They offered a choice of six base kit colors (none of which was my Seafoam color). They said they will provide me with a full new BlendJet that matches my current one (or similar), and that it would be shipped within 2-3 business days. The third option was to provide me with a REFUND (which they later said in emails that they DO NOT offer refunds). I cut the seal as per their request so the unit could not be used, took a photo, and filed a replacement online.
Then came the waiting game and feeble excuses by email (if you even got an answer from them) and I’ve tried communicating with them and only rarely did I get a response that was appropriate to my inquiry. After six months of waiting, I notified BlendJet on June 5, 2024 that I wanted a full refund and attached a copy of my QVC order. I also said I was lodging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, hoping to trigger some response from the company. Their response of June 11, 2024 was another lame excuse for delay (supply chain issue) and that they were unable to provide me with a refund, apologizing for any inconvenience.
I also contacted QVC directly about the delay issue of a product that I purchased from them and their only answer was “contact the company for further assistance”. On October 31, 2024, I sent an email to Host David Venable of QVC wondering why they are still selling BlendJets and were they aware of how the company was treating their prior customers. I also mentioned that since I had purchased the product through QVC, that THEY should give me a refund since BlendJet was not sending a replacement and refusing to give refunds. I requested that he or QVC check into this problem (since they were still “hawking” this company’s product) but I have received absolutely no response from him or QVC.
This happened to me almost verbatim. I have an email chain asking for answers going back nearly 2 years now. Eventually they just stopped replying and I just got an email saying they’re going out of business and no replacement will be issued. Meaning I wasted my money and soooo much time.
I noted the recall, filed and returned my Blendjet in January 2024. An email from Blendjet in February said they were “working to get replacement delivered as quickly” as they could, “approximately 4-6 weeks” from the date of selection . Another email in April said that the kits are “currently being shipped” but that “some customers may not receive their replacements until June 2024.” I have had not word and no replacement. I do not think that they ever intend to actually send one. Instead of a defective device that might hurt me, I now have no device at all, but Blendjet still has my money.
Same here. Never received replacement after following instructions, cutting into pieces and sent photo in email. Reached out again to blendjet and they state they are sorry but demand for replacement has been large and they cant keep up with demand. Yet I see new ones still being sold… wouldnt that be replacement parts?!? Am i to wait years with part of an unusable blender collecting dust? Should have just gotten a refund!!
