HexClad Cookware deceptively markets its HexClad cookware products as environmentally friendly and free of harmful chemicals, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiffs Khuschbu Didwania, Pratikkumar Patel and Benjamin Adams claim HexClad markets its cookware products as free of chemicals, despite coating them with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a type of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS).
The plaintiffs argue HexClad acknowledges that it coats its cookware products with PTFE, while marketing the compound as “safe and inert” and falsely claiming they are free of PFAS.
“It is therefore misleading for HexClad to represent to consumers that its cookware is free from PFOAs and all PFAS,” the HexClad class action states.
The plaintiffs want to represent a nationwide class of consumers who have ever purchased a HexClad cookware product.
HexClad greenwashes cookware products to take advantage of green movement, class action says
The plaintiffs claim HexClad is guilty of “greenwashing” its cookware products as a way to profit off a growing consumer desire to purchase “green” products, without “actually going green.”
“Greenwashers do not make notable efforts toward an environmentally friendly marketplace, certainly not to the extent that they frequently claim,” the HexClad class action states.
The plaintiffs claim HexClad is guilty of unjust enrichment, breach of express warranty and negligent misrepresentation, and of violating California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act, False Advertising Law and Unfair Competition Law.
The plaintiffs are demanding a jury trial and requesting injunctive relief along with an award of damages for themselves and all class members.
In March, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed a new rule aimed at limiting PFAS in drinking water.

Ii bought a whole set they said that it was safe. Very disappoint
I have had a blood cancer since 2014 and am very cognizant of toxins in my environment. My husband and I purchased Hexclad believing it was safe. In 2021 my husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer.
I am so disappointed!I purchased under the assumption of non toxic cookware; they also said they would not scratch but of they do. They make it very hard to file a claim.
I purchased a set of Hexclad, fry pans and wok, thinking it would be safe cooking pans for my family. Now I am worried of the harm they are doing to all of us. I am not going to use them anymore. I pray the time we have been using them doesn’t cause health problems in my family.
I have the entire set and cook every night. I thought these were free of chemicals or would not have purchased!
I am upset too! I bought the cookware because it is lighter than cast iron, promised PFAS free, non-toxic claims, and my eggs would not stick. I am upset by lying corporations!
I habe purchased over $1k worth of their pans and grilling products. I also bought my DIL a set. Now I am extremely upset and worried. She used the large soccer pan to boil water and the coating between the metal grid has come off! Just from boiling water. The saddest part of all this is that she can’t get it replaced because it was a gift! How does that void the warranty!?!? I’m upset because I can’t bring hers or mine back now. These pans are awesome but the company is horrible to make me believe I was safe using them and they don’t hold up their warranty agreement.
I purchased HexClad pans a year ago believing they were nontoxic. I feel like I was taken advantage of and really disappointed in this product.
It is unacceptable. We as consumer are in high risk of health issues due to this poisons to make these companies rich. I purchased these hexclad because of their claim and I’m so upset.
I wanted this cookware on the opinion of Gordon Ramsey’s professional referral, as well as Hexclad’s advertising of safe nontoxic products. Wrong! They are making millions off their lies. I bet they are not eating food and ingesting harmful chemicals from using Hexclad cookware.
