Allied Air Enterprises recalled more than 9,000 gas furnaces as they pose a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall June 8. It applies to about 9,255 Armstrong Air and Air Ease single stage gas furnaces.

According to the recall, a component inside the furnace was improperly assembled, causing the furnace to produce high levels of carbon monoxide (CO) under certain operating conditions, which poses a risk of CO poisoning to the user.

There have been no incidents of CO poisoning reported so far, the gas furnace recall states.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Consumers with the recalled gas furnace can also contact Allied Air Enterprises to schedule a free in-home repair by an authorized technician, who will replace the incorrect component.

Consumers who continue to use the recalled furnaces while awaiting repair should have working carbon monoxide alarms on every level of the home and outside sleeping areas, the recall notice warns.

The recall involves 96% efficiency gas furnaces under the ARMSTRONG and AIREASE brand names with model numbers A96UH1E045B12S, A96UH1E070B12S and/or A96UH1E110C20S.

Allied Air sold the units at ARMSTRONG and AIREASE authorized HVAC dealers nationwide from Sept. 2022 through March 2023 for between $1,800 and $3,400.
