Tastykake multipack cupcakes are being recalled by their manufacturer, Flowers Foods, Inc, due to the potential presence of tiny fragments of metal mesh wire, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall was initiated following notification by a vendor of the possible contamination in a supplied ingredient.

The Tastykake products being recalled were distributed to retail customers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia.

Tastykakes Should Be Tossed, Returned, Warns Manufacturer

The affected Tastykakes should be discarded or may be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund, says the recall notice.

Consumers with questions may call Flowers’ Consumer Relations Center or by email.

Flower Foods is one of the largest producers of packaged bakery foods in the United States. Its top brands include Nature’s Own, Dave’s Killer Bread, Wonder, Canyon Bakehouse and Tastykake.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor this and other recalls to help keep consumers informed.

Indeed, competitor Little Debbie recalled its Little Debbie Mini Nutty Buddy Cookie Bites Sandwich Cookies earlier this year after discovering that some packages may contain pecans, an allergen not listed on the products’ label.
