DEWALT Wireless Earphones Recall Overview:

  • Who: Company E-filliate is recalling its DEWALT Jobsite Pro Wireless Earphones.
  • Why: The headphones have been found to overheat, burst into fire and cause burns.
  • Where: The headphones were sold at electronics stores nationwide.

More than 301,000 DEWALT wireless earphones are being recalled after dozens of reports of overheating, bursting into flames and even burning customers.

In a recall notice posted Dec. 1 to the United States Consumers Product Safety Commission website, mobile accessory company E-filliate said it was recalling 301,800 units of the DEWALT ® Jobsite Pro Wireless Earphones due to a fire and burn risk.

So far, E-filliate has received 61 reports of the earphones overheating during charging or use, including five reports of fire and four reports of minor burn injuries, the recall notice says.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the wireless earphones and contact E-filliate to receive a prepaid shipment label to return the product directly to E-filliate in order to receive a free replacement,” the notice states.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Affected Headphones Were Sold at Electronics And Hardware Stores Nationwide

The headphones were sold nationwide at The Home Depot, Lowe’s, other electronics and hardware stores nationwide and online from Dec. 2019 through July 2021 for about $60.

The manufacture codes included in the recall are D4 1910, D4 1912, D4 2003, D4 2004, D4 2006, D4 2009, D4 2011, D4 2012, D4 2101, D4 2103 and D4 2104. If no manufacture code can be found, the product is included in the recall.

Headphones and headsets are often at the center of class action lawsuits. In 2020, Apple agreed to pay $9.75 million to resolve claims that Powerbeats2 battery life is poor, devaluing the wireless earphones.

In 2019, Plantronics BackBeat FIT wireless headphone owners were able to claim $100 from a class action settlement resolving claims that the headphones were falsely advertised as being able to provide eight hours of listening after one charge.
