Trader Joe’s Chicken Burgers Recall Overview:

  • Who: Trader Joe’s has recalled a combined nearly 100,000 pounds of its chile lime chicken burgers and unbranded spinach feta chicken sliders.
  • Why: Customers reportedly discovered the products were contaminated with bone fragments.
  • Where: The recall affects consumers nationwide.

Trader Joe’s has announced it is recalling almost 100,000 pounds of two chicken products due to a possible bone fragment contamination.

The affected products were produced by Innovative Solutions, Inc. and include Trader Joe’s chile lime chicken burgers and its unbranded spinach feta chicken sliders, according to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service

Trader Joe’s became aware of the issue after customers alerted the company to the chicken bone contamination, says the FSIS.

The FSIS says the chile lime burgers and spinach feta chicken sliders were shipped to Trader Joe’s locations nationwide.

Despite finding bone fragments, no customers have reported getting sick or sustaining any injuries from the contamination, says the FSIS.

Trader Joe’s Recalled Chicken Burgers, Sliders Should Be Tossed, Returned

The chicken burgers and sliders were produced between Aug. 16 and Sept. 29 and packaged in a one-pound box with four servings and a nine-pound box containing 72 pieces, respectively.

The FSIS is urging customers who purchased the products not to consume them and to either throw them out or return them to their place of purchase.

Tyson recalled 8.5 million pounds of its frozen, ready-to-eat chicken products earlier this year after discovering that three separate cases of listeriosis were linked back to the products, including chicken pizza, chicken wings, chicken breasts, and chicken strips.
