Women on treadmills in a health clubAnytime you subscribe to something such as a Fabletics VIP Membership, you expect to be able to cancel the subscription. After you notify the company you wish to cancel, you expect that item to be crossed off your to-do list. Many customers have complained that canceling their Fabletics membership was not successful the first time, resulting in further charges on their credit cards.

What Is Fabletics?

Fabletics is an athletic apparel website that promotes VIP Membership, a monthly subscription that holds the customer responsible for choosing clothing every month or for opting out of the month by the fifth of that month. Actress Kate Hudson is one of the company’s founders.

What If I Forget to Opt Out by the Fifth of the Month?

According to the company’s website, your card will be charged the monthly $49.95 fee, but you will have a credit on your Fabletics account for future purchases.

How Do People ‘Accidentally’ Obtain a Fabletics VIP Membership?

Several popular social media sites contain advertisements offering a “50 percent off” or “$24.99 for your first order” deals on Fabletics merchadise. Most of these savings opportunities are only available to those customers who agree to become VIP Members.

The website pushes the VIP program, and if a consumer is convinced to take advantage of the savings, the fact she just signed up for the monthly charge might allude her, or she might believe canceling is as easy as it is presented to be on the site.

Why Would I Continue to be Charged Every Month After I Cancel?

According to several online reviews by unhappy customers, their attempts to cancel a Fabletic subscription were unsuccessful. Some customers said they have tried repeated phone calls and before hanging up, customer service has assured them their memberships were canceled. A month later, however, they say another $49.99 Fabletics charge appears on their credit cards.

What Are Actual Customers Saying about Fabletics?

According to the Better Business Bureau website, an unhappy Fabletics customer named Christine wrote on July 16, 2019, “I cancelled the account and they are still billing me and say I never did, when I had.”

On July 9, 2019, a customer named Jessica wrote on the BBB site that she canceled her subscription on April 11, 2018, but that Fabletics continued to charge her card “at different times and even skipping months.”

Due to banking issues, she wrote she had to change card numbers twice in the past year. Jessica says that her bank told her that Fabletics is able to obtain personal information even after the account is canceled.

Jessica wrote, “So they were getting my new card [numbers] each time and billing me for a subscription I did not even have.”

Will Fabletics Refund Money?

Many consumers say the company is not cooperative about refunding any money. Unhappy customers have reported that, even if the consumer does not wish to buy any more products from Fabletics, the most they can expect is a credit on their Fabletic’s account that can be used towards a future Fabletics purchase.

I have also been a victim of this scam. I have bought many pairs of leggings from this website and they are great quality. However, in the 4 years I have been a VIP Member, they have charged me for 11 credits that I had called to skip. After seeing these other messages I have started a conversation with them to get all my money back. I would also like to participate in the class action lawsuit if it is possible. This company is a scam. They make me jump through hoops to even be able to skip the month every month. There is oftentimes “technical difficulties” and other bulls**t excuses for not being able to complete my requests and that is unacceptable. I have lost all respect for Kate Hudson and this company.

This is currently happening to us as well double charges for the 4995 I called twice now to cancel they tell me we need to order clothes before we cancel use our points after $300 or more they said we have three points it’s so confusing.

Is there a current class action suit in place?

Apparently my daughter purchased some leggings in June 2018. I noticed charges of $49.95 on my credit card from time to time, but I assumed my wife was just buying clothes for herself and the kids. This evening it all came to a screeching halt when I asked who just charged $49.95 to FABLETIC and nobody had. After reviewing over 3 years of statements I can officially say they’ve stolen $1,998 from me. My daughter was not old enough to be shopping online but somehow got my wife’s permission to make a purchase. She setup her own account, had to use a fake birth date to make the account, and entered my wife’s credit card having no idea she was subscribing to a membership. Now I can’t even find a place on their website to cancel.

Same happened to me. I never look at my bank statements and I only just caught it at $700. It’s insane.

Fabletics VIP program is a total scam!!!! BEWARE. Not only was I blindly forced into after my first purchase in early 2020, requesting to remove my membership requires endless follow ups and of course 49.95€ charges every month because its ‘PASS THIS MONTHS’ opt out button feature is completely defunct! And believe me, I intentionally set a calendar reminder for the 1st of each month so to ensure I am not charged. But NO, Fabletics still charges!!! And again, even after spending almost an hour on the phone to demand that my membership and all details be deleted, I was told no. SCAM!!!!

Fabletics has stolen over $600 from my daughter and I. Struggling single mum. Cannot contact them. Had to change all my bank accounts….. devastated that this is allowed. Kate Hudson, you should be ashamed

I just realized after looking at my statement that I too have fallen victim to the fabletics scam. my daughter cancelled the membership 14 months ago! that is correct we have been charged for 14 months which equates to $700! we immediately called their 24 hour customer service line. immediately we requested to cancel the membership and then refund for all 14 credits on the account. she understood but would not refund more than 2 months which was immediately reflected in our account and by via email. we demanded a full refund and she asked if she could put us on on hold we obliged. a few minutes later she was able to refund all but 1 credit. we were not sure why but she said we needed to call back to refund that 1 credit. we confirmed again that our membership was terminated she then canceled it! after all this if we did not ask we would be refunded but continue to be charged again and start the cycle all over again. we received an email immediately verifying this and 13 emails regarding the pending refunds. we kept refreshing out fabletics online account during the call. the account reflected 14 to 12 and finally to 1 credit at the conclusion of the call. we will be calling tomorrow but so far so good. my only advice is PLEASE CALL immediately. as long as its not 5 years worth of credits please cancel your membership and ask for an email to acknowledge it. then ask for a full refund. keep persevering and you should be able to achieve a full refund too!

My minor daughter purchased one item in 12/2018 and “clicked get the discount” – That placed us in a “membership” which she automatically responded she did not want.

We have been charged 49.95 for 2 years on a card I don’t check and it is automatically paid. I should have noticed it, I know – but I had 2 new credit card numbers since then and the company was never notified of the new card numbers.

$1,198.00 for one pair of leggings.

Apparently, I am in good company as there are THOUSANDS of complaints regarding Fabletics and this “membership” charge.

      Hi “Fabletics Victim”
What came of your situation, did they refund you any money at all? That’s such a huge amount, I feel for you! I’ve also only recently discovered the same. Have been paying them £49 for almost a year!
Such a stressful and difficult time financially for lots of people. £500 worth of gym wear is not helpful to me!

      1. Rita says:

I just found out that after purchasing some leggings and clicking the discount that I was enrolled in the VIP membership! I was charged $49.95 for 3 months before i caught the charges! Fabletics Is horrible to use trickery and deception!!

  9. Sandra says:

    BAD REVIEW!!!!!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!
I’ve tried calling Fabletics Customer Service to cancel my membership but they tell me that their system is down and that I need to call back a couple days later. Now i’m on hold with 79 people ahead of me. This company’s honesty and integrity is all bullshit!!! If any of ya’ll are starting a lawsuit, count me in! Here is my email: sandra.raya94@gmail.com
I am super serious about this. Now they don’t want to give me a refund because I didn’t cancel it before the 5th of the month. How was I suppose to cancel it with “their system being down”??????????A whole bunch of crap. Even though the leggings are great, all of this trouble is NOT WORTH IT.

  10. Silvia says:

    Hello,
I am joining the long queue of unhappy fabletics customers.
I have cancelled my membership last month after I have made a purchase and cleared the credit.
This month I was charged again and when I logged in the membership was active. I sent an email and the response was that I didn’t skip the month.
I asked for the membership to be cancelled and to proceed with a refund but nothing the membership is still active and I don’t know what else I can do as the customer service is not collaborative at all.
    Any good advice?
