T-Mobile class action lawsuit

T-Mobile has implemented an SMS refund program for current and former T-Mobile customers who may have incurred unauthorized charges for third party premium SMS (text message) services. If you paid for unauthorized premium text message services, you are entitled to a refund.

Premium SMS services are text messaging programs provided by third-party companies. These services included monthly subscriptions to services that provide text messages with sports scores, weather information, horoscopes or jokes. Some charges for these text messaging services were reportedly unauthorized by consumers. According to T-Mobile, premium text message services became active on customers’ accounts when they responded to a short code or entered their phone number at a company’s website.

T-Mobile has discontinued the Premium SMS Text Message services at the end of 2013, and the last bills showing a charge for these services were produced in February 2014.

Who’s Eligible

Current and former T-Mobile customers who incurred unauthorized Premium Text Message charges can participate in the T-Mobile refund program.

Note: Premium Text Message charges for charitable contributions, campaign donations, and inmates’ collect calls are not eligible.

Potential Award

T-Mobile customers who wish to claim a refund may submit a Claim Form for either:

  • The amount of Premium Text Message charges you identify as unauthorized; or
  • A flat amount of $40 to cover all Unauthorized Premium Text Message charges.
Proof of Purchase

To be eligible for benefits from the T-Mobile refund program, you must provide your name, mailing address, phone number and email address, as well as your T-Mobile account information.

If you are seeking a full refund for the unauthorized premium text message charges, you must submit an account summary or T-Mobile account records specifying any charges you did not authorize.

To help you make a Refund Claim for specific Unauthorized Premium Text Message charges, you can request a free account summary showing Premium Text Message charges (and credits, if any) charged to your T-Mobile account since July 2010. The deadline to request an Account Summary is April 30, 2015.

I received a check within a few weeks of filing my claim, but today I received a letter the claim administrator stating that my claim cant be processed because its incomplete. Maybe this is one of the websites I had trouble with & I had to resubmit…whatever the case may be…I received $40 many months ago. Thanks Top Class Actions

  2. Pat M says:

Is anyone out there having difficulty getting the $40? I haven’t had T-Mobile for over a year, explained it to the refund admin and was told that T-Mobile has to let them know 1st before they can process a check. No one from the refund admin, T-Mobile or another org (unclaimed property service) can tell me how $40 can be credited to an acct that hasn’t existed for 15 months. 2 calls to T-Mobile and both times I was told that the refund admin had been contacted letting them know the account was closed. Now I have the refund administrator giving me the link to sign up to see if I qualify when I have the letter they sent.

  10. Romane Spain says:

I filed a claim under the impression that I would receive a $40.00 reimbursement for the three lines that I have but I was informed that I would get a credit toward my bill. I am reply to the new up date whether or not I received a check or a credit toward my service. I did receive a credit when I thought I was getting a check back . the information on the webs is misleading.
