A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Walgreen Co., Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Supervalu Inc., and Perrigo Company of South Carolina Inc., alleging that certain statements on the packaging of some of their glucosamine supplements were false, deceptive and/or misleading. If you purchased certain glucosamine products between Nov. 1, 2005 and Aug. 1, 2014, you could be eligible for compensation from the Perrigo class action settlement.
Specifically, the Perrigo class action lawsuit alleges that products containing glucosamine and/or chondroitin were represented as formulated to help “rebuild cartilage,” “lubricate joints,” and “improve joint comfort” when they do not actually provide these benefits. The plaintiffs claim that these representations are unlawful under the consumer protection laws and that the purchasers of these products are entitled to compensation.
The defendants deny the allegations but agreed to settle the glucosamine class action lawsuit to avoid the risk, expense and distraction of continued litigation.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members of the Perrigo glucosamine class action settlement include all U.S. residents who purchased for personal use, and not resale or distribution, a Covered Product between Nov. 1, 2005 and Aug. 1, 2014. A list of Covered Products is available here.
Potential Award
$12 per bottle, up to a maximum of eight bottles per household, to Class Members who do not submit proof of purchase.
Class Members who submit valid Claim Forms accompanied by a cash register receipt evidencing their purchase of a Covered Product manufactured by Perrigo and/or its affiliates will be entitled to receive a full refund for the actual price of each product purchased.
The actual amount each Class Member will receive depends on the total number of valid claims submitted, and may be adjusted up or down in order to fully distribute the class action settlement funds to all Class Members who submit valid claims.
Proof of Purchase
None required. However, Class Members who do not provide proof of purchase will be limited to an award of $12 per bottle, up to a maximum of eight bottles per household. Class Members who submit receipts with their Claim Forms may be entitled to full refunds of all Covered Products purchased.

I received a letter the other day too. It said that I had put in for more than 8 products, which is the amount you can claim without receipts I am sure that I only claimed 8, but non the less, the letter said if I wanted to claim more than 8 I had to submit proof of purchase by May 7th. If I only wanted to claim the 8 then I did not need to do anything further. I emailed the lawsuit to make sure that I did not need to do anything, but they have never responded.“
I received a response today from the lawsuit admin. They said that they would update my claim to show 8 products at $12 a bottle, but they noted that if the total number of claims exceeds the amount in the settlement funds that the claims would be paid on a pro rata basis.
Received denial letter asking for more proof of purchase
If the two parties accepted an agreement–How can someone file an appeal?
Any update?
When I called they said the case was in appeal so to be patient.
Doesn’t look like final hearing took place 12/12/14. Which I am going to guess that this is in some kind of appeal. Anyone with real info?
Well, still no checks and the week is almost up!
So when should I worry since I haven’t got anything yet.
Does anyone have any new information ?
The website says you can file the claim online or by mail but it has no way of filing online. There is no link to file the claim online.
Yes there is a drop down menu upper left corner of Web page.
