Paradise Showgirls class action settlement

A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit alleging Paradise Showgirls Club in City of Industry, Calif. wrongfully required dancers to share their tips in violation of California law. If you danced at Paradise Showgirls Club between May 17, 2006 and May 26, 2015, you are entitled to a payment of $20 per day for each day you danced.

If approved, this Paradise Showgirls class action settlement will resolve allegations that the club wrongfully required dancers to share money that they received directly from customers. The class action lawsuit asserted that this tip-sharing policy is a violation of California law, which prohibits clubs from requiring their dancers to share money they receive as tips from customers.

The Paradise Showgirls class action lawsuit was initially filed in May 2010 by plaintiff Quinece Hills. She asserted several causes of action against the Paradise Showgirls Club, including: failure to pay minimum wage or legal overtime; unlawful imposition of penalties; illegal tip collection; uniforms reimbursement; failure to provide rest and meal periods; and other violations of California law.

The defendant denies any wrongdoing. The class action lawsuit went to trial, and in April 2015, a jury found that Paradise Showgirls unlawfully required dancers to share their tips with the club. The jury entered judgment of more than $6.5 million against the defendant.

Although the defendant has appealed the verdict, the appeal has been stayed. The parties entered into mediation and reached a proposed class action settlement that will ensure the dancers will actually receive money, and that their money would be paid in a reasonable amount of time. Under the terms of this class action settlement, the defendant will pay $3.025 million to resolve the litigation.

You got a letter from ILYM back in Nov. You should have seriously gotten your claim by now. If I were you I would be calling and emailing Ilym and even the lawyers every day.
I’ve had to threaten to call the Bar on them just to get a response to my email. Both the claims admin and lawyers are snakes I got an email from the attorneys but it’s only because I sent them an email telling them I’m reporting them to the California Bar association and idk what I have been waiting for.

  2. Something says:

When did you get a letter? I haven’t seen any thing from them I only worked a short amount of time.

  3. Patti says:

We should already know what we are getting paid, I never received a claim form with the amount of days I was approved for….did any of you? I sent in my claim form with days I worked but never received anything from them after that….they have not followed the settlement procedures at all. I know we deserve our money and they are keeping it for no reason because they think we will not do anything about it. Did anyone contact the Judge?

    1. past dancer says:

No. I never received anything saying what I was approved for..but I danced there from 06 to 08..four damn days a week. They better pay me back every dime they took from me.

  4. past dancer says:

This is getting ridiculous. Its our money!!

    1. Something says:

Agreed. I think because we are past dancers, they think we are not going to stand up for ourselves. Well they are wrong. We are going to do what it takes to get our fair portion of the money we are entitled to.

      1. past dancer says:

Typical of paradise though. Did you really expect anything different? When the first lawsuit was filed..they denied that the dancer even worked there. Pathetic.

  7. past dancer says:

lets call the judge and complain !

    1. Lisa Beverly Hill says:

I’m calling right now! I’ll be back.

    2. Lisa Beverly Hill says:

      It’s 7:00am. I got a machine. It said check lacourt.org, department 40. I’m going to call again at 8:00.

  8. Lisa Beverly Hill says:

Check your credit reports. They pulled my credit on August 8, 2016. That is absolutely illegal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Lisa Beverly Hill says:

I’d suggest that you check your Experian credit report, Under soft inquiries. Just look for something that doesn’t look familiar. I say that only because that is the one they used to check mine.
They have no right to invade anyones personal financial information.

They have committed identity theft. That is a criminal offense.

It’s the equivalent to them breaking into your home & ripping open a locked draw with a screwdriver.

Do you think that they would like it if we pulled their credit reports just to see what kind of a financial position they are in?

    2. Something says:

I have a credit freeze on my file. Wonder if they can still pull it.

      1. Beverly Hill says:

No. they can’t. I’ve done that before. They can’t see anything.

  9. Peyton Manning says:

Obvious we have gotten the attention of some one at one of the two legal offices, because the website is back up.

I think the two legal offices are ignoring us, so if anybody has an email for the clerk of the court I think we just start email the court, because the two law offices don’t seem to care about us.

    1. Beverly Hill says:

The link to the website above isn’t back up. (It’s not working for me anyway)
      This one is still up.

There similar. Not the same. And that is were you are able to view SOME of the court documents.

I don’t know what it is that we have in common & why we are being lied to & screwed with. But it makes me wonder how many other girls are they doing this to. There’s about 250 girls. And only of us one on this site has gotten got a check.
The rest of us have gotten lies,
and the attorneys are supposed to be on our side. They are acting unethical by giving false information.
ILYM Group is also supposed to help us. That’s why they’ve gotten paid (a boat load)

  10. lean says:

So Website is Up. I don’t understand how they had to give the amount of days we were approved for to us and the court and if we didn’t agree we would have a chance to dispute. I was never told how many days I was approved for but we should be approved for full amount if we were not given a chance to dispute the amount of days or pay we will receive. I never received a notice my claim was deficient in any way so I should receive full amount. What do the lawyers have to discuss? How much money they are going to keep out of our money we are owed? Amounts should have already be approved and checks mailed. This is wrong and the decree was not followed. Who is wrong the administrator or the lawyers? Who do we contact about them trying to not pay us what we are owed? Someone contacted the right person or the site would not be back up after being down for 6 months. They got paid to have the site up already and didn’t fulfill that part of the settlement.
