norcold class action settlement

Norcold Inc. has agreed to pay $36 million and offer an extended warranty to settle a class action lawsuit stemming over allegations that its refrigerators contain a safety-related defect.

Plaintiffs claim that Norcold gas absorption refrigerators, typically installed in RVs and boats, have a cooling unit issue which may cause the boiler tubes to corrode and leak flammable gas which could increase the risk of a fire.

Claims for personal injury or wrongful death are not covered under this class action settlement.

The Norcold class action lawsuit alleged the manufacturer is liable for breach of state consumer protection laws as well as breach of express and implied warranties.

Norcold denies all wrongdoings but agreed to the settlement to avoid the risk and cost of further litigation.

Refrigerators covered under the class action settlement include Norcold 1200 Series, N8 Series and N6 Series Gas Absorption Refrigerators, a full list can be found here.

Strange (if not unfortunate) that many of you are getting the same amount as last year.. Was last years larger than the first installment? My records show a 34% increase this year however my records don’t indicate if it’s an increase from the first installment or last years. Sorry if there is any confusion.

Checks are not the same amount. When people don’t cash their checks, that extra money gets split up between everyone else. I just received my check today. Last years was $183.12. Today mine is $246.01 which is a 34% increase.
