Huawei and Google have agreed to pay $9.75 million to resolve class action claims that Nexus 6P smartphones were affected by two defects: a “bootloop” defect and a “battery drain” defect.

The re nexus 6 lawsuit settlement will benefit consumers who purchased a Nexus 6P smartphone between Sept. 29, 2015 and May 3, 2019.

The Nexus 6P bootloop defect allegedly caused the smartphones to randomly shut down and reboot, sometimes causing the phones to be stuck in a reboot cycle. The battery drain defect reportedly caused the smartphones to quickly lose battery power.

Huawei and Google do not admit any wrongdoing by settling the claims against them, but have agreed to pay $9.75 million in order to resolve the re nexus 6 lawsuit class action and avoid future costs.

After the settlement received preliminary approval, a settlement website was established in order to begin informing consumers about their ability to file claims. The re nexus 6 lawsuit settlement started to accept claims on June 7, 2019.

Class Members can collect between $5 and $400 from the renexus class action settlement depending on the defects experienced and whether or not they can provide documentation. For more details regarding payment amounts, reference the “Potential Award” section below.

In order to receive payment from the renexus class action settlement, Class Members need to file a valid claim by Sept. 3, 2019. The deadline for exclusion or objection is Sept. 3, 2019. The final approval hearing for the renexus class action settlement is scheduled for Oct. 10, 2019.

Who’s Eligible

Consumers who purchased a Nexus 6P smartphone between Sept. 29, 2015 and May 3, 2019.

Potential Award

Between $5 and $400, depending on the defects and documentation.

Individuals who experienced the bootloop defect and submit documentation may be able to collect up to $325.

Class Members who experienced the battery drain defect and submit documentation may be able to collect up to $150.

Those who experienced issues on more than one Nexus 6P smartphone and submit documentation may be able to collect up to $400.

Without documentation, individuals can collect between $10 and $45 for the battery drain defect and between $20 and $75 for the bootloop defect.

If Class Members did not experience the defects or had their smartphone replaced with a Pixel XL, they may be able to collect between $5 and $10.

Proof of Purchase

Documentation of the experienced defects may be required for higher payouts.

    Why can’t they get the records from the carrier? Oh yeah, then you have to pay everybody who bought one. This way thousands of people won’t realize their due anything. The american way, cheat the little guy.

    Luckily I have all my emails from Fi support with these problems I think I went through 3 phones before I dropped Fi and went back to Samsung on Verizon.

    I don’t have documentation but I still have the phone and it is in a boot loop. Verizon refused to replace the phone.
