Nexus 6P Smartphone Second Distribution Checks in the Mail

Claimants in the $9.75 million Nexus 6P smartphone settlement are receiving a second payment distribution.

Viewers have reported receiving a payment of $11.33.

Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit had alleged the phones contained two defects: a bootloop defect that allegedly caused the phones to randomly shut down and reboot and a battery-drain defect that allegedly caused the phones’ batteries to lose power quickly.

The claim deadline was Sept. 3, 2019.

The Nexus 6P Smartphone Defects Class Action Lawsuit is In re: Nexus 6P Products Liability Litigation, Case No. 5:17-cv-02185-BLF, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Birch Communications TCPA Class Action Settlement Payouts

Class Members who filed valid claims in the Birch Communications settlement also are receiving checks for $24.34 in a second payment distribution.

The class action lawsuit, filed by Abante Rooter and Plumbing, alleged the telecommunications business placed a telemarketing call using an automatic dialing system, which is a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

The deadline to file a claim was Aug. 22, 2017.

The Birch Communications TCPA Class Action Lawsuit is Abante Rooter and Plumbing Inc. v. Birch Communications Inc., Case No. 1:15-cv-03562-AT, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Great Plains High Interest Loan Class Action Settlement Payouts

TCA viewers are receiving checks in the mail for as much as $34.88 as part of the Great Plains high-interest loan settlement.

Plaintiffs in two class action lawsuits had claimed Great Plains, Plain Green, and MobiLoans — which financial services through companies such as Think Finance — originated loans with excessive interest rates that violated state limits.

The last day to file a claim was Feb. 12, 2021.

The Great Plains High-Interest Loan Class Action Lawsuits are Gibbs, et al. v. Rees, Case No. 3:20-cv-717-MHL, and Gibbs v. TCV V LP, Case No. 3:19-cv-789-MHL, both in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Sports Research Corp. Class Action Settlement Payouts, Supplements, Vouchers Mailed

Sports Research settlement Class Members have been receiving checks for $3 in the mail.

The company’s MCT Oil and Turmeric Curcumin C3 were allegedly deceptively labeled as “packed with beneficial fats” and capable of sustaining “natural” energy, as well as being marketed as antibacterial, anti-microbial, and having antiviral.

The Sports Research Corp. Class Action Lawsuit was Hinkle, et al. v. Sports Research Corp., Case No. 37-2020-00001422-CU-NP-NC, in the Superior Court of California in and for the County of San Diego, North County Division.

Second Round of Caribbean Cruise Line TCPA Checks Mailed

Caribbean Cruise Line settlement Class Members recently have reported receiving a second round of settlement payouts of $575.

A class action lawsuit had accused Caribbean Cruise Line and its co-defendants, Vacation Ownership Marketing Tours Inc., the Berkley Group Inc., and Economic Strategy Group, of violating the TCPA by allegedly robocalling millions of people with offers of free cruises.

The Caribbean Cruise Line TCPA Class Action Lawsuit is Birchmeier, et al. v. Caribbean Cruise Line Inc., et al., Case No. 12-cv-04069, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Navy Federal NSF Fees Class Action Settlement Payouts

Consumers who were charged certain non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees have been receiving settlement payouts for as much as $29.

In her class action lawsuit, lead plaintiff Ruby Lambert accused the credit union of charging unfair NSF fees, specifically its practice of charging multiple NSF fees on a single transaction.
