Honda Civic tire wear class action settlement

Honda Motor Co. has reached a class action settlement over claims that some of its vehicles excessively burned oil, causing engine misfiring and premature spark plug degradation. If you purchased a  2008-2012 Honda Accord, 2008-2013 Honda Odyssey, 2009-2013 Honda Pilot, 2010-2011 Honda Accord Crosstour or 2012 Honda Crosstour equipped with a 6-cylinder engine with Variable Cylinder Management (“VCM-2”), you could be eligible to receive compensation for repairs or a warranty extension.

The Honda engine misfire settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit (Soto, et al. v. Honda Motor Co. Inc.) alleging that Honda manufactured more than 1.5 million defective vehicles that excessively burned oil.

Honda has denied the allegations in the class action lawsuit. The parties agree that there are no safety concerns with the vehicles named in the litigation. Honda agreed to the class action settlement in order to avoid the costs of a trial. The proposed class action settlement was preliminarily approved by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston on Oct. 9, 2013.

To receive full compensation for your vehicle repairs, Class Members must submit a valid Claim Form with a copy of an original repair invoice or receipt plus proof of payments for repairs or replacement of parts on a Settlement Class Vehicle by April 10, 2014. Class Members do not need to take any action to obtain the warranty extension, which will cover repairs for the affected vehicles within eight years of the original purchase or lease date of the vehicle, with no mileage limitation.

I have had misfire and jerking but the salesman told me that it was normal with ESO so how will I be able to get the extended warranty in the event my problems are just beginning. My car has 36350 now and is out of the factory warranty. Can I file to get the extended warranty.

    Case 3:12-cv-1377-SI

I received your claim for repairs for my 2009 Honda Odyssey Touring vehicle, however, i have not had any previous claims yet.

I just want to ensure that if i donothing, that a warranty extension will automatically be in force, protecting my vehicle for a period of time. What is this new warranty and its expiration date? Thanks. 347-427-1700 (H)

  3. Phyllis Piesco says:

We did’t have to pay out of pocket expense because it was under warranty. We did incurred expenses for towing and twice for car rentals. We have had trouble with that car from day of purchase. Three Honda Dealerships told us there is a problem with the engine. We should be able to be included in this lawsuit.
    Thank you.

I FEEL A SUDDEN JERK AT HIGHWAY SPEED 60 OR SO. CAN IT BE BY MIS FIRE. HOW DO I FIND IT BURNS EXCESS OIL?

    1. Jessica says:

You should lookup Honda Torque converter issues. Or unwanted rapid acceleration issues / problems in Honda vehicles!! It will open your eyes. Honda is extremely unsafe! And misleading, crooked company!! ( even check out videos of this on YouTube

  5. Sylvia Mathis says:

I have been experiencing recently these things…misfire of spark plugs…engine not running smoothly. It is a 2010 Honda Accord EXL.

This causes me anxiety on the road as I am a single white female…62 years of age.
    Thank you,

I have a 2012 Honda Accord V6 it has 38000 miles on it and I have had it in the shop twice for cylinder #2 misfiring. I took it to the Honda dealer and they replaced the spark plug and now they are telling me that there is a kit that has to be order and put in my car. I have not had any out of pocket expense to date. So my question is do I need to sign up for this class action suit?

  7. Dusty D says:

Lawsuit ? I have a new 2013 Pilot with 5000 miles , have had no problems yet , Do I sign up for this class action to offset future costs ? Or is this only for people that have had problems ? Sounds like I should trade it in for 2014 ? Or do they have the same issues. Thanks

  8. John V says:

2008 Accord E-XL 100K miles. I bring in my car in between 3K and 3.5K miles for a oil change and was told this past saturday I was low on oil. I was told by the service desk that I should add a quart of oil to my car between oil changes. This is what I get from a “certified” Honda Tech that I need to add oil to my 2008 Honda Accord. I’m pretty sure that everyone who has dealt with a Honda Service person has has the same story. They are all aware that this is a Huge Honda Problem. Has anybody had any luck with this lawsuit?

    1. Ken says:

I have the exact same model and the exact same problem. When I took them to task about it, they backed off their initial stance that it was going to cost me around $6000 to repair. I wasn’t going for that crap, especially when I overheard the service manager talking about this defect two years ago. They advised it was from the oil getting into the combustion chamber just like the V6’s. They then agreed to clean the heads and install a new software program that is supposed to be a solution. We will see. In the mean time, Honda just lost a loyal customer.

  9. Julio NYC says:

I have not had any misfire codes come up on my car Yet?
2009 V6 with 68 k . I would like to know if the dealer would do any preventive maintenance on my car to avoid this problem?
Or do I have to wait for codes to come up,I will ask on my next service
I will check my oil more often to see if I am burning oil?…
This really stinks to wait for these codes to eventually appear ,I hope I am still under that extended warranty when the appear!

  10. j says:

2008 accord exl v-6 w/30k miles purchased 2009 w/8k miles. since day one vibration @ idle when cod, 95% less when warmed. santa monica dealer (purchased from) service stated it was normal back in 2009 (service told me they adjusted valves, tried swapping coil/plug, check vacuum leak,…). as of summer 2013 vibration has gotten less (70-90% – does vibrate every now and then only when cold, still very small vibration is felt at idle even when warm). does not burn oil nor any codes.
