The manufacturers of Grove Square Coffee have agreed to pay $25 million to settle class action claims that its single cup products meant to be used in Keurig machines contain instant coffee instead of ground coffee.
Alabama, California, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee consumers who purchased Grove Square Coffee in the single cup version between Sept. 30, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2014, could get cash from this settlement.
The Grove Square Coffee class action alleges that Grove Square Coffee Light Roast, Grove Square Coffee Medium Roast, and Grove Square Coffee Dark Roast single cup products are made up of more than 96 percent instant coffee.
This lawsuit is about the packaging of Grove Square Coffee. Plaintiff’s allege that Grove Square Coffee, through its packaging of Grove Square Coffee, misled consumers into believing that Grove Square Coffee Light Roast, Grove Square Coffee Medium Roast, and Grove Square Coffee Dark Roast products for use in Keurig ® brewing machines contained premium, ground coffee when the products actually consisted of more than 96% instant coffee. Plaintiffs argue the Defendants violated various state consumer protection and unjust enrichment laws. The Defendants deny any wrongdoing and deny all of the allegations made in the lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Grove Square class action settlement, Class Members will receive between $25 and $275. Alabama consumers may file a claim for a maximum $100 payout; New York residents who file a valid claim can expect to receive $275; consumers in California, Illinois, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee can claim $25 per product up to three items for a maximum total of $75.
It is too late to opt out of the Grove Square Coffee class action settlement, but Class Members who wish to object to its terms must do so in writing no later than March 23, 2020.
The deadline to file a claim is May 7, 2020 and the final hearing will take place on April 21, 2020.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members include consumers who bought Grove Square Coffee in Alabama, California, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee between Sept. 30, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2014.

I was told they don’t have a pay date for PayPal payments ???
$5 HERE IT COMES THIS WEEK. LOL
Did we get an amount yet?
So where is it at ? Any one get it yet?
Happy Easter all! One day left to get our payment ?
What is the amount we will be receiving?
Happy Easter
Wonder if they know the amounts for each state now because they are set to release payments soon?
I received an email stating I would be receiving $87 April 6,2021.
Thank you Joy. I would think you chose the New York option right?
Why are you so angry? I wanted to know if she had chosen the same state as me (ny) because the claim amounts had been pro rated. Obviously I won’t enter a class action I’m not qualified for.
I didn’t get an email ??? Anyone else ?
No, neither did I. But it looks like paper checks are in the mail now. And if you chose a PayPal/Amazon payment you’ll have to keep waiting as of now.
AYOOO we finally getting paid :)
: )
WEBSITE STATES PAYMENTS WILL BE MAILED THE WEEK OF APRIL 5th 2021. Updated today 3/25/21
THEY MADE ENOUGH ON INTEREST LOL
I wonder will PayPal and other options come before then or will they be sent out at the same time it sooner?
Truth!!! There needs to be laws on how long class actions payments are allowed to be held. The processing time is criminal.
I think when the lawyers get paid we should get paid also.. They will make sure the payments go out in a timely manner not wait 2 years for them to get their payment!!!!!!
I think they have a year from final approval which was April, 2020.
I just got off the phone with a representative and im in New York and he said that the checks would be disbursed by the end of March 2021
Thank you Amy, should be soon then :).
Thanks for calling. Did they say how much us New Yorkers will get?
They said the same thing to me.
Its like the end of the month now so I assume that Paypal payments will be going out first then checks but so far nothing has been sent out yet. I guess at some point we will get paid but as of now we are still in the waiting game….
I just got off phone. I was told sometime in April and he couldn’t tell me how much for NY. Guess when they arrive well know?
so we getting 87$ dollars for the new york option?
KCC is the absolute worst Settlement administrators ever!! they take forever to pay out. They are responsible for the Levi Stadium hold up also. they discriminate in the way the handle cass actions. If you put in to many claims they flag you and immediately dismiss your claim as fraud. They told me this because i had 3 other claims. sorry I owned a CRV and they had 19 recalls and god forbid you drink coffee also you get declined!! they sued have a discriminating lawsuit brought on them!! they get fat off the interest they earn plus fees paid to themfor distrobution.
I agree KCC is trash compared to other firms, they haven’t even updated their website 10 months after the settlement closed.
