A settlement has been proposed in a class action lawsuit alleging consumers with Green Dot prepaid debit cards and certain Green Dot-issued Walmart MoneyCards experienced a longer-than-anticipated service disruption, causing them to be unable to access their accounts.
If you had a Green Dot prepaid debit card or Walmart MoneyCard on May 14, 2016, you may be entitled to benefits from the Green Dot class action settlement.
According to the Green Dot MoneyCard class action lawsuit, technical issues occurred during a processor conversion, causing some holders of Green Dot prepaid debit cards and Walmart MoneyCards issued by Green Dot to experience a disruption in service from May 15, 2016 through May 22, 2016.
The service disruption was longer than expected and allegedly caused some consumers to be denied access to their accounts.
The Green Dot class action lawsuit alleges Green Dot entered into an agreement with MasterCard International Incorporated under which MasterCard became the new processing services provider for Green Dot. As part of this conversion process, Green Dot cardholders were informed that they would be unable to access their accounts for a 12-hour period beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on May 14, 2016.
However, the service disruption allegedly caused some Green Dot cardholders to lose access to their accounts until May 22, 2016. Approximately 58,600 customers were reportedly affected by this longer-than-anticipated Green Dot service disruption.
“During the Service Disruption, Plaintiffs and Class members were unable to spend or withdraw their funds in their respective Green Dot Prepaid Card accounts needed for the basic necessities of life, such as food, clothing and shelter,” the Green Dot class action lawsuit alleges. During this Green Dot service disruption, some cardholders were allegedly unable to pay their household bills and incurred late fees.
The defendants deny the allegations but agreed to settle the Green Dot MoneyCard class action lawsuit to avoid the burden and expense of ongoing litigation.
Class Members who would like to object to or exclude themselves from the Green Dot MoneyCard class action settlement must do so no later than Sept. 26, 2017.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members of the Green Dot settlement include cardholders who attempted but were unable to use their Green Dot-issued MasterCard-processed cards to access their account funds between May 15, 2016 and May 22, 2016 because of the service disruption.

When will we know how much we are getting and when.

How do you know you was approved
I got an email stating i was approved
Do you mean you received an email with a confirmation number or something showing you were approved for payment?
I’ve used Greendot for a long time and had my account hacked twice with them now and their dispute department is a joke. I couldn’t get refund on the money when someone else access my account to pay a script on some porn site. THEN THEY TOOK SWEET TIME SENDING ME PAPERS TO DEAL WITH IT FOR APPEAL ON TIME AND SO I NEVER GOT ANYTHING BACK FROM IT BUT A HEADACHE. HAD TO GO WITHOUT MY CAR FOR ANOTHER WHOLE MONTH BECAUSE I COUULDN’T PAY STARTUP FOR CAR INSURANCE DUE TO THAT. MY KID GOES TO SCHOOL ACROSS TOWN AND DON’T HAVE BUSSING AND MY HUSBAND HAS DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS TO DEAL WITH HIS DIABETES2 AND CANCER AND OUR COUNTY BUS SYSTEM IS A JOKE, HE MISSED SO MANY APPINTMENTS. THEY SETTLED MY CLAIM IN JULY AND DIDN’T RECIEVE PAPERS ON IT UNTIL OCTOBER OF THIS YEAR AS TO WHY THEY DENY THE CLAIM AND YOU GOT ONLY SO LONG AFTER JUDGEMENT TO FILE APPEAL. SO SCREWED ME.
I would like to know how to file against Green Dot for closing my account out on the day I received my 2015 tax return and they said they sent it back to the IRS when the IRS says they have not and here it is almost 2 years later. And since Green Dot has no Customer service reps that you can actually talk to. What do I do?
Yes, I got 4 Green Dot Cards to pay my bills, I could not use them. Now hopefully I will get my money back. God is good. I’m mailing my app. with proof tomorrow.
I have had so many problems with the gree dot card it’s been a long time coming.
I would like to see them pay back the money they take out for maintenance fee’s. I lost my card in my room found it 8 months later and it had 10.24 cents left on it, because of maintenance fee’s. What to leave money on my card to sit. What maintenance was that, I did not use it, I did nothing with it. I just misplaced it and got charged for it.
I tried to do the eligibility part.. I answered the 4 questions & it didnt do anything else??
thank you for the info
