Electrolux Home Products Inc. has agreed to a dryer settlement class action lawsuit alleging some Electrolux dryer models contain defects that can cause them to catch fire due to lint buildup. The class action lawsuit alleged the company breached warranties, was negligent, violated consumer protection laws and unlawfully profited from the sale of the dryers.

Consumers who purchased certain freestanding clothes dryers between Jan. 1, 2002, and Dec. 31, 2011, could be eligible for benefits from the settlement.

Electrolux denies its dryers are defective or that they pose an unreasonable fire hazard to consumers. The company denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid the risk and expense of further litigation.

A final approval hearing in the Electrolux class action lawsuit settlement was held in 2014.

The objection and exclusion deadlines for the settlement have passed.

The deadline to file a claim for reimbursement for future dryer fires in the Electrolux class action lawsuit settlement is Dec. 31, 2022.

The Electrolux dryer settlement also includes two Subclasses, consisting of Class Members (1) who have experienced a dryer fire and (2) who experience a dryer fire in the future.

My mom bought a 2004 model had used it , worked really well until a week ago I turned on the dryer and I smelt smoke , so I followed the smell to the washer and dryer and I opened up the dryer door wen it was drying cloths , and it was on fire where the main lint filter in the back of the dryer , I panicked and starting blowing blowing to turn the fire off , thank God I blew it out. So I cleaned done of the lint off , I turned it on again , same thing, another fire toward the back of the dryer,, so here I am can’t dry cloths , if anyone have any info like maybe a recall of speak to some one on this fire matter, thank u for reading about this dangerous matter

Approx purchase date was in 2004. NY previous Frigidaire washer & dryer lasted 17 years with never as single problem until they got old and worn out. I bought a new set. The washer worked great! The dryer seemed to be getting hot all over! When it burned some clothes, I called the store and they told me they would replace it and call me when it came in. After 3 months, I got tired of waiting! I bought a set of LG front loaders! 2 more months went by and the store called to tell me a new Dryer had finally come in. Then, even though I had paid for the original delivery, they said I would have to bring the bad one back and pick up the new one. With our original phone call, they had told me to throw it out! Good thing I didn’t! I sold the new Frigidaire Washing matching to a friend and when the new dryer came in, hers had gone on the fritz so her friend picked up the fire hazard and we took it back to Best Buy and picked up the new one. They were horrible to deal with! Their paper work was a disaster! And the people that moved me from Sarasota, Fl. To Racine, Wi. In 2012 were even worse! They made every box marked office or receipts or taxes disappear!
I’m calling the girl friend I sold it to in the morning to see if she still has any information.

Friend that bought the replacement Frigidaire dryer no longer has the corresponding paper work! She knows that the first burnt a load of clothes and i told her to keep an eye on the replacement because it was the same model number. I will never buy another Frigidaire product unless its a stove, refrigerator or microwave!
