Conair Corporation has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging some of its Cuisinart food processors come with riveted blades that crack over time and cause portions of the blade to detach.

If you own a Cuisinart food processing machine, you may be entitled to benefits from the class action settlement.

The Cuisinart class action lawsuit alleges that the food processor machines were promoted as functional even though they did not function as advertised. On Dec. 13, 2016, Cuisinart recalled the blades supplied with certain Cuisinart food processors. A Cuisinart recall class action lawsuit was subsequently filed, and alleged violations of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, and breach of express and implied warranties.

“On December 13, 2016, Conair announced a recall and instructed the owners of 8 million Cuisinart brand food processors to stop using the primary chopping blade included with the machine immediately,” the Cuisinart class action lawsuit says.

“Owners were instructed to contact the company for replacement blades, but months later — long after when many owners would have used the machines to prepare holiday meals — Cuisinart owners are still waiting for replacement blades.”

The plaintiffs claim that they would have paid far less for the Cuisinart machines if they had known that they would be instructed to shelve the product for six or more months.

Conair denies any wrongdoing or liability but has agreed to settle the Cuisinart food processor blade class action lawsuit to avoid the cost and risk of litigation.

Class Members who would like to opt out of or object to the Cuisinart blade settlement must do so no later than Feb. 26, 2018.

I received my replacement blade today! Three years too late as the processor went into the trash ages ago. What a waste conair!

  2. Scott Whitehill says:

    add me: DLC-2011CHB

  3. llc says:

I submitted a claim form for a replacement blade February 24, 2018 and I NEVER received anything. I just re-submit the claim and the result was “Your recall submission may already exist, please contact Customer Service at 1-877-339-2534.” So, my claim is in their system yet why can’t Conair do what they agreed to do. There is nothing about claiming the $15.

The link above to the “Settlement website” goes to an article about Arthrex Knee Replacement. Seriously? How is that related to Cuisinart blades? This gets weirder and weirder.

Manually typing cuisinart.com/settlement in a browser, results in the Cuisinart sales page. Hunt around and there is a link to “settlement.” There is a table about when a claim is submitted and when Conair fulfill claim. So, for my February 2018 claim submission, according to the section paragraph 8 table: submissions made from “October 1, 2017 to December 13, 2020” then “Date Conair will fill request … Within 90 days of receipt (December 30, 2017 to March 13, 2021).” So, as of today, September 1, 2019, it has been 554 days since I submitted my claim. What part of “90 days of receipt” have I misunderstood. Perhaps this in not English?

Further down the “Settlement” web page is the section “HOW TO RECEIVE A REPLACEMENT BLADE

How can I receive a replacement blade?

Call Cuisinart at 1-877-339-2534 or fill out the form at http://www.cuisinart.com/recall

So, it might be best to call the toll-free number instead of filling the online form. Seriously, this is a lot of work that I’ll take my chances with using the riveted blade. If I get injured or die, someone can sue them. Shesh!

    1. NANETTE HART says:

Ditto here. I’ve been using it carefully because I should not have to wait 2 years for them to make it right. I called a year after requesting a replacement and they told me there were so many requests that it was going to take “awhile” to fulfill them all.

    2. llc says:

Still NOTHING as of December 5, 2020, which is 1,016 days since I submitted my claim. Their web page has changed the claim form to https://recall.cuisinart.com with the same telephone (877) 339-2534 between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET Saturday or Sunday. However, NOBODY answers the phone as I have been on hold for 3 hours. The hold voice states that something like “our blades are fabricated with precise manufacturing and take time.”

The settlement web page (https://www.cuisinart.com/help-and-info/settlement/) has changed the fulfillment timeframe to “Within 90 days of receipt (December 30, 2017 to March 13, 2021)”.

Those of us who are still awaiting a new blade or $15 without use of the food processor for fear of it killing us, it seems that a new class action lawsuit is needed for this old class action lawsuit.

      1. llc says:

I called again on Monday, Dec 7, 2020 and a rep answered, but of course, had no record of my claim number. However, the rep offered to create a new sales order, which I consented and got the sale order number. On December 10, 2020, I received an e-mail message stating that they were still working on my order and should receive it within the next 10 days. Of course, I did not receive anything. So on January 6, 2021, I called again but the telephone number from the email ( 1-800-726-0190). The rep stated that they only started sending replacement blades at the end of 2020. In addition, the older orders would ship that week or the next week but failed to tell me if my order was considered “older.” So, wait… They ship via UPS Surepost.

On January 8, 2021, the post office delivered a replacement blade. So, the 1,049 days wait is over for me. May everyone still waiting get their replacements soon.

  4. Robin Kelly says:

Mine broke and I called they basically said tough (it’s been forever since then) I threw it in the recycling now what do I do? I am just SOL. They should be forced to go threw registration cards or records and reimburse all

  5. Loan Tran says:

I did called and submitted the recall form .I was told the blade will be shipped around 10 days but since then I did not hear anything from person, voice mail or e mail I want to be in the law suit for whom is not responsible for their product

  6. Cynthia L Ingraham says:

    Please add me

  7. Jessica says:

Add me please, wouldn’t let me fill out paperwork

  8. Pat T. says:

I did receive the replacement blade but it was a very long wait. How do I apply for the $15.00

  9. Patricia Schmitt says:

    Please, add me DLC2007

  10. Afua M. says:

I also filled out the form in 2018 and still no blade. Will not purchase their products again either.
